Representatives from the Deaf Action Center (DAC) in Abilene will be at the health department on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 11a.m. to talk about their services. The DAC serves people who are deaf and hard of hearing with a comprehensive range of services. They will educate and train people in coping and communication strategies, assistive devices and Relay Texas Service and more. DAC assists the hard of hearing, deaf, deaf/blind, vision impaired, speech impaired and mobility impaired, in receiving free communication devices from the State of Texas. Come and learn about the services that DAC offers.
The Sweetwater Jaycees have hooked up a direct line with Santa Claus and from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, kids will be able to call and talk to Santa.

Brookshire Grocery Co. stores throughout Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas began the 32nd Annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive recently.
Approximately 150 Brookshireâ€™s and Super 1 Foods stores will collect donations of non-perishable food items and team up with a wide range of service organizations, food pantries and other volunteer groups to distribute food to families who need assistance.
Sweetwater ISD recently completed their campaign for the Nolan County United Way.
