SNYDER, Texas (AP) — Investigators are trying to identify a badly decomposed body found in West Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says law officers Sunday removed the remains from an undisclosed location in Scurry County near Snyder. Trooper Sparky Dean says further details on the site have not been made public as investigators seek to preserve the scene.
A person whose name hasn't been released reported finding the remains Saturday afternoon. Officials have not said the possible gender or age of the person. Dean says an autopsy has been ordered.

A public hearing was held during the regular March meeting of the Sweetwater City Commission to consider the request for the abandonment and closure of a right-of-way.
The right-of-way is a twelve-and-a-half foot by 482.6 foot platted but undeveloped dead-end alley located between Bowie and Henderson Streets (west to east) and west Bradford Lane (north to south). Numerous portions of streets and alleys are already closed in this area.
At the March meeting of the Sweetwater City Commission meeting, several bids were discussed on items that are necessary for city operations.
Bids were opened and considered on AC10 asphalt and grade 4 crushed rock, which will be used in the 2013 street seal coating projects. Three companies submitted bids, which were reviewed by city staff prior to any action being taken.
