On Tuesday, May 7, Sweetwater Independent School District will host Kindergarten Round-Up at Southeast Elementary School. Personnel from Southeast Elementary will be registering students that will be attending Kindergarten next year in the 2013-2014 school year.

The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department and Sweetwater Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire north of Roscoe on FM 608 on Wednesday morning.
The owner of the house was plowing in a field nearby when he noticed smoke coming from it. It was vacant at the time.
Before fire trucks arrived, the entire house was engulfed in flames and was a total loss.
Texas State Technical College West Texas is now collecting donations for those affected by the disaster in West, Texas. The donations will be delivered to the area on Friday, April 26. The public is encouraged to drop-off any donations at your local TSTC campus.Â Items needed include water, Gatorade, non-perishable food items, toiletries, baby wipes, baby items, blankets, towels, wash rags and clothing and shoes for men, women and children, etc.
During the Nolan County Commissioners' meeting on Monday, discussion was held which stemmed from a request by a business in the oil/gas transportation industry to re-establish a rail line--which crosses County Road (CR) 108--and put it back into service.
Ken Tootle with MAALT made the presentation to the commissioners, in which he gave an overview of the company. The Fort-Worth based company has been in the business for around a decade, boasting 400 employees and several branches in Texas and Oklahoma, among others.
