The Sweetwater High School baseball and softball teams have announced the dates, times and locations for their playoff games this week.
Sweetwater's baseball team (15-13) has decided on a best-of-3 bi-district series with Fabens at Crane High School. Game 1 will be Friday at 5 p.m., followed by the second game on Saturday at 2 p.m. Game 3, if needed, starts 30 minutes after the second game ends. The Sweetwater-Fabens winner advances to the area playoffs against Pampa next week.
The Nolan County Forward Planning Committee met on Friday at the Sweetwater Country Club, which brought community leaders from various fields together to discuss the impact and consequences from the incoming Cline Shale oil development.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly chamber coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, located at 200 E. Arizona in Sweetwater.
The hospital is governed by a board of directors. Donna Boatright is the administrator. The hospital provides healthcare for the communities of Nolan County. RPMH was built and founded in 1976. It was founded as a hospital district in 1989.
Four âMissingâ billboard signs first went up in January 2011, according to Lamar Advertising, just a couple of weeks after Hailey Dunn was reported missing.
The signs were taken down on Monday, after news that Haileyâs remains were positively identified on Friday.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 172 calls for service, issued 11 citations and made 13 arrests from April 26-28, 2013.
The SPD received 119, 911 calls.

BreAnne Richardson, FCCLA member at Blackwell High School, was recently named the Best of Texas Outstanding Special Achievement Student by the Texas Career and Technology Council (TCTC). This state-wide award is in recognition of the studentâs achievements, academics, service and participation during high school.
On Saturday, May 11, registered voters in Roscoe have the opportunity to head to the polls to cast their vote in a bond election approved by the Roscoe Collegiate Independent School District (RCISD) Board of Trustees for the construction of a $3.5 million Capstone Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Research Center.
Regular voting will take place on Saturday, May 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the RCISD Cafetorium, located at 1201 West 7th Street in Roscoe.
The Sweetwater High School softball team won its first bi-district championship ever by beating Pecos, 11-1, on Saturday in five innings. The Lady Mustangs will now advance to take on Pampa in the area playoffs this week.
The players on this year's team are Abby Garcia, Lena Lovelady, Shaneese Brown, Cierra Knox, Jerren Villa, Suede Shirley, Kendra Crosson, Keyli Turner, Maty Montgomery, Kelsi Crosson, Alyssa Heredia, Morgan Gomez, Megan Holsey and Jaya Atkins.

April is National Financial Literacy Month, and the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) encourages parents to use this opportunity to teach their children the importance of financial literacy. IBAT recently announced the three recipients of its Teaching Excellence in Financial Literacy AwardâSkylar Houston from Sweetwater High School, Lynn Scotty from Utopia High School and Linda Comer from Wellington High School.
