Today, we'll have a chance of rain or freezing rain before noon, then a 60% chance of freezing rain and sleet. Expect cloudy and cold conditions, with the temperature falling to around 23 by 5pm. Wind chill values will be between 11 and 17, with north-northeast winds around 15 mph. Total daytime ice accumulations of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch are possible, with little or no snow accumulation expected.
Wal-Mart has partnered with the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center (WTCAC) for the 2013 holiday season to provide a way for many children in the area to have a better Christmas.
Amy's Angel Tree at Wal-Mart represents children who have been served by the WTCAC this year. Each angel has a child's gender, age, clothing size and special needs, or a favorite toy or character that the child would like.
Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) in conjunction with the Sweetwater Lions Club recently held an eye glasses drive in an effort to help those less fortunate have the opportunity to see better with corrective lenses. The two groupsâ€™ efforts resulted in 97 used eye glasses being collected.
Sweetwater Independent School District Superintendent Mr. Terry Pittman is pictured at the Superintendents' Student Advisory Meeting held each six weeks.
The meeting is held during lunch and representatives from grades 4 through 12 attend. The representatives were appointed by campus principals.
Issues are discussed and suggestions are made to insure that SISD stays Sweetwater Strong.

Mayor Isaac Castro made it official recently by filing his candidacy for State Representative. Mayor Castro will oppose incumbent Representative Susan King in the March 2014 primary election. On another note, Mayor Castro addressed the Abilene Tea Party meeting recently held at the Cotton Patch Restaurant.
RPMH recently held their second annual food drive on Nov. 4-15.
1,429 food items were donated to the Gaylordâ€™s Pantry at First United Methodist Church. RPMH wishes to thank Wal-Mart and Lawrence Management for their generous contributions.

A total of 412 toys were collected during the Sweetwater Goodfellows toy drive at Wal-Mart on Saturday that included many toys given from the second toy run. Also collected were donations in the amount of $100 from Debra Loven, $25 from Jessica Messersmith, $50 from Jeremy and Paige Wilks and another $517.23 in cash donations.
Distribution will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday at the Lamar Street Baptist Church recreation building with the Christmas party with Santa scheduled for 3:45 p.m. that day.
The December Chamber Coffee event will be held at First Financial Bank on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. This year, FFB will also host their annual Open House at this time, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at noon.
Everyone is invited to attend and come and go as they please. Refreshments will be served in the lobby of the bank, located at 201 Elm Street.
