Southern Belle Salon, located at 200 Main Street in Roscoe, had their ribbon cutting on Tuesday morning. Owner/operator Eden Baker had her salon's grand opening on June 3. When asked why she decided to open a salon in Roscoe, Eden said, "I grew up here. I've lived my whole life in Roscoe."
Yandell Toland, Eden's grandmother, was a beautician in Sweetwater for many years.

As part of the eight Microsoft Office Short Courses offered this summer at the local TSTC (Texas State Technical College) West Texas campus, a class on Microsoft Word 2010 will be taught.
The intermediate/advanced Microsoft Word 2010 course will be taught on Monday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 10 and is an eight-hour morning course that builds on the skills and concepts taught in Word 2010: Basic, First Look Edition. Students will work with styles, sections, and columns and will use the Navigation pane to work with outlines.
Through discussions with the First Care insurance provider and the Shannon Clinic staff in Sweetwater, the Sweetwater Independent School District (SISD) was informed that the local clinic will not accept First Care by the end of August this year.
As previously reported, First Care is a widely used insurance by employees of SISD. And while these changes continue, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) has discussed the issue with Sweetwater ISD administration in order for the two entities to work together so that access to healthcare is provided for the employees of the school district.

Three people were transported from the scene of a wreck on Tuesday morning near the US 84/I-20 bridge that is currently being repaired due to an 18-wheeler wreck that damaged the bridge in September 2012.
Two 18-wheelers were involved in the wreck including one truck carrying beer kegs and another truck carrying Coors Light packages.
On June 18, the driver of an 18-wheeler died after wrecking into the same bridge currently under construction.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at Best Western, located at 300 NW Georgia Ave.

One person was killed and one was injured at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday in a two vehicle crash in Nolan County.Â This crash occurred five miles north west of Roscoe.
Silvia Torres TreviÃ±o, 75, of Roscoe, was driving a 2011 Nissan east on U.S. Highway 84. Richard Anthony Ginn, 50, of Lubbock, was driving a 2004 Ford pickup west on U.S. 84.Â The Nissan crossed the center stripe and struck the Ford pickup head-on.Â
