It is sad to hear reports that people were so hungry they rushed a government rice house only to have the walls collapse on the crowd, killing eight. It brings to truth the reality that hungry people will do whatever is necessary for food.
Two men were arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the Sweetwater Police Department when police recovered a vehicle that had been purchased with a stolen check.
Sgt. Pat Lenoir was working the case after the victim called the police department about the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle took a check from the purchaser, but the two agreed that the title would not be given until the check had cleared. When the check came up as being stolen at the bank, the victim immediately called the police department and let them know the meeting time and place for the title exchange.
