RPMH is helping diabetics navigate the holidays

The holiday season is a busy time for many of us with work, parties and other activities that keep us on-the-go. With limited time to focus on health and wellness, many Americans tend to slack on their diets. Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) hopes to help diabetics manage their disease during the holidays with a free Lunch and Learn Seminar on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Mustang Youth Basketball sign-ups begin

Mustang Youth Basketball will hold sign-ups for the 2014 league at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital’s conference room located at the front of the hospital on the following dates: Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 5:30-7 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5:30-7 p.m.; and Monday, Dec. 16, from 5:30-7 p.m.
No late registrations will be allowed this year. Children must be in third through sixth grade to be eligible.
Please bring your child’s birth certificate and registration fee.

TNB awards good grades pay winners

Sixty-five Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the second six weeks, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the second six seeks were Timothy Holsey (9th Grade), Kilanie Arpin (10th Grade), Corynn Martin (11th Grade), and Larissa Locklar (12th Grade). RPMH donates to Goodfellows

Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital recently donated many non-perishable food items and toys to the Sweetwater Goodfellows.
The Goodfellows distribute food and toys to those in need during the holiday season in Nolan County.

Inaugural meeting of WTEC well attended

The inaugural meeting of the West Texas Energy Consortium (WTEC) was held at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum on the campus of Howard College in Big Spring. The conference was opened by WTxEC Chairman Victor G. Carrillo, former Taylor County Judge and Commissioner of the Railroad Commission of Texas.

Jeanne Palafox Wells to run for County Treasurer

Jeanne Palafox Wells is announcing her candidacy for Nolan County Treasurer.
Wells has served as County Treasurer since  March 1, 2013, when she was appointed by the Nolan County Commissioners to fill the rest of the unexpired term vacated by former county treasurer Gayle Biggerstaff.
Prior to her appointment, she worked in the County Auditor's office for six years as an Assistant Auditor. In this role, she audited various county offices, including the Treasurer's office.
