Two people entered guilty pleas during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday.
The West Texas Energy Consortium (âConsortiumâ) announced that it will hold its Inaugural Conference in Big Spring on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013. The Consortium is a collaborative forum for business and industry representatives and partners in education, workforce, housing, local government and the non-profit sector, within the various counties comprising the West Central Texas, Concho Valley and Permian Basin Regions to further the development and economic opportunities associated with the unconventional resource shale plays in the area.
Several businesses hosted open houses in Sweetwater on Monday, offering refreshments and sales at their stores.

Doug Sitter State Farm is taking toiletry donations again this year for the West Texas Childrenâs Advocacy Center.Â
What the center does this time of year is give all the families they help throughout the year toiletries just before Christmas in addition to putting up the Angel Tree at Wal-Mart. Donations can be dropped off at 208 Lamar Street.
Those wishing to donate cash may do so and Doug Sitter State Farm will buy the toiletry items to be donated. All donations are appreciated.
At a special-called meeting of the Nolan County Commissioners on Monday morning, approval was given to nominate five members to the board of directors for the Nolan County Central Appraisal District.
The five members nominated were Jerry Rozzlle, Randall Smith, Domingo Castillo, Mike Ensminger and Jerry Lee Hunt. Stepping down from the board will be Ben High and Mark Meneses.
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department will be giving free blood glucose tests from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the health department, located at 301 E. 12th Street. Information pamphlets will be available on diabetes. The event is sponsored by the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Diabetic Outreach Program.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting for Rolling Plains RV and Mr. Câs Asphalt Maintenance at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at 9909 1-20 (on south side of I-20 between exits 240 and 242).

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) District Conservationist Mandi Ligon announces applications for funding opportunities with the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) are currently being accepted at the NRCS offices located at 103 West Florida.
The Sweetwater Goodfellows are currently seeking businesses, organizations or individuals interested in setting up a table at the annual Goodfellows Christmas party with Santa.
A total of 10 tables will be set up at the hour-long event and those in charge of the table are asked to bring something for the children to enjoy. "In the past we have had a table with balloons, one with snacks. It does not have to be anything big, just something to give to the children attending the party," says Goodfellows President Billy Johnston. "Some ideas may include coloring books or Santa hats."
