The Sweetwater Jaycees are gearing up for the 56th Annual Worldâs Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up.
Media day is held a few weeks before the Round-Up every year where Miss Snake Charmer contestants are introduced to the media and the Jaycees demonstrate how to milk the snakes of their venom to make anti-venom. The Sweetwater Jaycees Rattlesnake Round-Up is an educational event held on the second weekend of March.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at 400 E. Avenue A in Sweetwater âÂ the site for the new Sweetwater Police Department.
Sweetwater Chief of Police Brian Frieda and Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham spoke at the ceremony, saying that the new building has been a long time coming and construction is expected to be finished by December.
April 25-26 - Deep Creek Art Festival is now accepting applications for the Spring 2014 festival, April 25-26, 2014 in Snyder. Deadline for applications is March 15, 2014.
The Deep Creek Art Festival is a juried art festival. Jurors will select artists' in 14 categories: Painting, 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Clay, Digital, Drawings/Pastels, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Photography, Sculpture and Wood. There is a $15 non-refundable fee per application.
