Story Hour set for today

Today, we'll have a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with cloudy skies and a high near 80. Winds will be from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph, shifting to the east-northeast in the afternoon.
Expect those rain chances to drop to 40 percent tonight, with mostly cloudy conditions and a low around 69. Winds will come from the east-southeast around 10 mph.

Red Steagall to be at local Round-Up for Rehab event

Cowboy poet/musician Red Steagall is the Honorary Chairman for Round-Up for Rehab. He will be in Sweetwater for this year’s Shrimp Peel and Auction on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Sweetwater Country Club. The public is invited to attend and meet Red personally at the event that raises much needed dollars for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Last year’s event in Sweetwater raised over $51,000.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit grand opening event begins Thursday in Sweetwater

Jay and Ratna Devdhara’s love for cooking is what attracted them to opening a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in their hometown of Snyder. On Thursday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., the couple will expand their business with a new location in Sweetwater. To celebrate their expansion, they are hosting a three-day grand opening. The first 50 guests receive gift cards worth up to $50.

World’s brightest 5K coming to TSTC Saturday

The public is invited to participate in a local Color Dash on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. starting and ending at TSTC Sweetwater Campus.
"This fun, family-friendly event is going to be a big difference maker — it's your city's brightest 5k run/walk," said event organizers. "The Color Dash is a fun-filled experience for walkers, runners and people of all ages, shapes and sizes."

Events scheduled today at library

Two events are scheduled today, September 17 at the County-City Library.
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet at 9:30 a.m. Instructors will help you learn to read, improve your reading skills, improve your English skills or help you read to your children.
And at 2 p.m., the library will have a Home School Story Hour. Library staff will have activities for students while parents meet together.
