Doug Sitter State Farm hosts toiletry drive for WTCAC

Chris Stevens, Kiwanis Club Vice President, representing the Kiwanis Club, is shown with Brandi Sitter with Doug Sitter State Farm, Kelsey Zimmerman, Executive Director of West Texas Children's Advocacy Center (WTCAC) and Peggy Parrott with WTCAC.
The Kiwanis Club donated $200 toward toiletries during a drive held at Doug Sitter State Farm. The remainder of the toiletries were donated by Doug Sitter State Farm and the community.

On Saturday, December 13, the last Trade Days for 2014 will be at the Roscoe Community Center building, located at 100 Bois D'Arc, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be breakfast and lunch and treats available at the concession stand (to go plates will be available). There will be many vendors with something for everyone: Christmas ornaments, handmade crafts and jewelry, Scentsy, unique gifts, seasons and refurbished items, collectibles and more.
The Sweetwater Fast Pitch Softball Association will have a brisket fundraiser at Wal-Mart starting at 9 a.m.

This morning, we'll see patchy fog before 10am; otherwise, we should have partly sunny skies and a high near 68. Winds will be from the south-southwest at 5 to 15 mph.
Expect mostly cloudy conditions tonight, with a low around 55 and southern winds around 10 mph.
For the weekend, we'll have highs in the upper 60s with lows in the upper 50s dropping down to the low 40s on Sunday night. Starting on Saturday evening, rain chances will enter the area but will clear out by Sunday night.

During the economy session of Leadership Sweetwater, the class toured Buzzi Unicem, USA in Maryneal and United States Gypsum (USG) in Sweetwater.

Texas Workforce Commission honors regional collaboration with $30,000 award

Recently, the West Texas Energy Consortium (WTxEC or Consortium) received the “Industry Sector Outreach Award” from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) at the Annual State Conference in Grapevine. Honoring significant workforce efforts in targeted occupations and positive impacts made to employers, the award includes a $30,000 endowment and recognizes the success experienced in just one short year with the Consortium’s exceptional, integrated approach.

Zimmerman named WTCAC executive director

The West Texas Children's Advocacy Center (WTCAC) welcomed a new executive director last week.
Kelsey Zimmerman, a Nolan County native, has been tapped to run the organization, which specializes in conducting forensic interviews of children who are suspected of having had physical or sexual abuse.
