Today, October 29, the Nolan County Sign Ups for Goodfellows will take place through the 31st, from 9 a.m. to noon, and 1-3 p.m. each day at the Sweetwater Fire Station, located at 900 E. Broadway. Applicants need to bring latest proof of income, approval notice for food stamps, birth certificate for each child, pay stub and approval notice for T.A.N.F.
Also, the Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet at the County-City Library at 9:30 a.m.

TSTC hosts Big Country BEST Robotics competition

The Big Country Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Robotics hub, which is managed by Texas State Technical College, took place on Saturday, Oct. 25. This year’s topic was Blade Runner, which is all about the engineering challenges associated with the implementation of modern wind energy technology.

County Commission leaves burn ban off

Nolan County Commissioners voted Monday to leave the burn ban off for at least two more weeks, as the area is still moist, thanks to recent rainfall.

On Saturday night, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m., the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium will welcome a timeless musical act as part of the APPLAUSE music series.

Family-friendly fall events continue tonight

October 28, 2014

Today, October 28, Nolan Nursing and Rehab, located at 705 N.E. Georgia will be sponsoring their annual fund raiser Fall Festival carnival from 4-6 p.m.
Funds from the event will be used to support Christmas gifts and activities for the residents of NNR. For more information, call Karla Knight, A.D. at 235-5417.
Also, Avondale Baptist Church, in conjunction with East Ridge PTO, Hoyt Place and KXOX will be hosting the 3rd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Hoyt Street from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be games, candy and fun.

TNB awards Good Grades Pay winners

Fifty-seven Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the first six weeks of the 2014-2015 school year, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the first six seeks of the 2014-2015 school year were Mason Maxwell (9th grade), Kensi Chowning (10th grade), Ashleigh Jimenez (11th grade) and Columbus Hickmon (12th grade).
