Many attend ribbon cutting of RPMH Cardiac Rehab & Wellness Center

Shown above is only a fraction of the crowd that showed up to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning for the ribbon cutting at the new Cardiac Rehab and Wellness Center. Tours of the facility were also given.

Water to shut off Wednesday evening

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the City of Sweetwater staff and WhiteWater Construction Contractors will shut the water off for 12 inch water line repairs and tie-ins. The water will be shut off at approximately 10 p.m. and should be back on by 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11.
The areas affected will be between E. Broadway and N. Highway 70 and Hailey and Hoyt. There will be low pressure in this area. After repairs all lines will be flushed and brought back into service.

Polls open today for Election Day

Texas Governor Rick Perry has called a special election for Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, to fill the unexpired term of Texas State Senate District 28 seat, vacated by Sen. Robert Duncan, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The County Clerk's Office wants to remind voters that the September election is special-called. The regular general election will still be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Update: High speed pursuit leaves one dead

September 8, 2014

One man was pronounced dead Monday after leading authorities on a high speed chase through Sweetwater which ended in a fatal, one-vehicle wreck.
According to Police Chief Brian Frieda, a gray Camaro reported stolen out of Mitchell County was spotted by an investigator with the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office at 1:57 p.m.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on West Broadway, but the driver, who has been identified as 32-year-old Merced Flores of Sweetwater, refused to step out of the vehicle after being ordered to multiple times, Frieda said.

Wilcox receives county agent service award

Zachary Wilcox received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agriculture Agents during the 2014 Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference held in Mobile, Ala. Wilcox was one of several honorees who represent the top two percent of the membership selected by their peers and the Director of Extension.

After a year of construction, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) has announced the ribbon cutting ceremony for its new cardiac rehabilitation and wellness center.
