It's that time again to nominate the 2014 Outstanding Young Citizen, Outstanding Female Citizen, Outstanding Male Citizen and Business of the Year.
A new, local congregation is hoping to make an impact in the community as they prepare for their official church launch.
On Sunday, Aug. 17 from 6-7:30 p.m., Bethel Sweetwater will have a back to school backpack/school supply giveaway at Newman Park. Bethel Sweetwater is an extension of Bethel Assembly in Anson.
Two hundred backpacks filled with elementary school supplies will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Also at the event, 500 hot dogs will be given away.
Many attended the back to school event at Richard Fergeson State Farm on Monday. Free hot dogs and school supplies were given away and children enjoyed a bounce house.

A bit more rain is needed before the Nolan County Commissioners Court will agree to lift the burn ban.
The commission voted unanimously to leave the ban â€” which hasn't been lifted since late May â€” in place for now.
"We want to see a general rain over most of the county before we lift the ban," said County Court Judge Tim Fambrough.
The commission agreed to revisit the issue at the next regular meeting.
A presentation by Randy Teague of AirMedCare Network focused on bringing more comprehensive coverage to Nolan County and its residents.
Angie Collier and James Villanueva were in the right place at the right time when the two â€” in a Nolan County Sheriffâ€™s Office SUV â€” turned their lights on and stopped traffic to help a frightened turtle to safety.
The turtle was crossing Hailey Street and stopped and hid inside its shell before making it to the sidewalk when traffic started to pick up.
Today, August 12, the Pioneer Museum will be having a two-day Pioneering the Past Discover Camp from 10 a.m. to noon.
The theme is â€śLifeâ€™s a Garden, Dig Itâ€ť. The two-day interactive archaeology camp is open to children in grades 4 through 8.

Many attended the Nolan County Fair this weekend and enjoyed a concert on Saturday evening performed by Great White.

Members of the Nolan County Cruisers car club drove members of the band onto the floor of the Nolan County Coliseum for their show, driving them in classic cars.

Infigen recently gave a donation to the Roscoe VFD that will be used for general maintenance at the department, keeping fire trucks and medical equipment up to date.
