Church youth to have steak dinner fundraiser

June 6, 2014

The Holy Spirit Catholic Parish Council will have a steak dinner fundraiser on Saturday, June 7, starting at 6 p.m. The steak dinner will consist of sirloin steak, baked potato, salad, bread and tea.
Adults will be $10 and children under 12 will be $5. All proceeds will go to the Holy Spirit Parish.

Second local roller derby bout slated for Sunday at Annex

On Sunday, June 8, the Mustang Sallies will have their second home bout of the season versus the Randall County Roller Dames at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the first whistle is at 4 p.m.
Tickets are on sale at Creative Graphic Solutions, Fastenal and El Papagayos for $8 in advance. Head on out to Terry's Homemade Ice Cream and Italian Ice on Friday from 7-9 p.m. for a meet and greet and for your last chance for advance tickets!

Two youth car wash fundraisers this weekend

On Saturday June 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the First United Methodist Church youth group will be hosting a car wash at Mustang Car Wash on Hailey Street.
The automatic car wash will be open and the youth will be waiting on the other side to dry, vacuum and detail cars as needed. All proceeds will go to help support their mission trip this summer to Albuquerque, where they will be working with a local cancer center.

Advantage hosts Chamber Coffee

Advantage Office Supply, located at 1116 E. Broadway in Sweetwater, was the host of this month’s Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce coffee event.
Many Chamber members enjoyed refreshments while networking at the event. Door prizes were also given away.

Lone Star Ag Credit welcomes loan officer Jason Jones to local office

Lone Star Ag Credit is pleased to announce that Jason Jones recently returned to Lone Star Ag Credit as a loan officer in the Sweetwater office. 
Jones brings more than eight years of Farm Credit lending experience to the cooperative. He has extensive knowledge of financing both rural real estate and the production needs of farmers and ranchers. A native of Nolan County, Jones grew up south of Sweetwater in the community of Nolan, where he still resides and farms cotton on a part-time basis. 

Groundwater conservation discussed at Lions Club meeting

At Tuesday's weekly meeting of the Sweetwater Lions Club, a presentation was given by club member Dale Adams.
Adams has been the manager of the Wes-Tex Groundwater Conservation District for five years. He also serves as board member of the Texas Groundwater Management Association for Region 7 and the Brazos Regional G Water Planning Group within the Texas Water Development Board.
Additionally, Adams has obtained a Texas Water Law Certificate, in which yearly continuing education is required.

Church donates to SNAP

Faith Lutheran Church, located at 1607 Josephine Street, is sharing its Lenten services donations with the Senior Nutrition Activities Program, or SNAP.
Kathryn Pendergrass, a member of Faith Lutheran, is shown presented a check for $575 to Janet Petty, SNAP secretary, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
"On behalf of SNAP staff and participants, we would like to thank the members of Faith Lutheran Church who made this donation possible."
