Tonight, August 27, the Mitchell County Senior Citizens Dance will be held from 7-10 p.m. at the Colorado City Civic Center, located at 157 W. 2nd Street.
There will be live music featuring Shady Mitchell and the Kickin' Kountry Band. There will be a fee per person; contact Faye at 728-3033 for more information.
And on Friday, August 28, Dr. Don Abbe, Curator at the Silent Wings Museum, will speak on âImpact WWII had on West Texasâ at 10 a.m. at the Sweetwater County-City Library, located at 206 Elm.
Debrah McCain, a Sweetwater High School Senior from the Class of 1985, is shown going up for a basket against the Brownfield Cubs. That year, Debrah was named to the All-District and All-State teams by the Texas Coaches Association. She and the Class of 1985 will be celebrating their 30 year reunion Sept. 4th and 5th at the Jaycee Barn. For more details about the reunion see the facebook page, "SHS Eightyfive."

A community wide candlelight vigil for Sweetwater Police SGT Rob Hohman will take place on Wednesday at Mustang Bowl. Gates will open at 9 p.m. and a moment of silence will begin at 9:30 p.m. followed by prayer. The vigil will end at 10 p.m.
A jury panel is currently being chosen in the 32nd Judicial District Court for the trial of Daniel Marrujo.
Marrujo was indicted Dec. 17, 2013 for three counts: Sexual assault, a second degree felony; indecency with a child by contact, a second degree felony; and indecency with a child by exposure, a third degree felony.
The victim was under the age of 17 on Feb. 16, 2013, when the alleged crimes are said to have occurred.
The trial will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

The community of Sweetwater and Nolan County is mourning the loss of one of its beloved police officers. SGT Robert "Rob" Hohman with the Sweetwater Police Department passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015. Many members of the community remembered SGT Hohman and a great man and officer.
