Sweetwater ISD Open Houses continue this week with Sweetwater Intermediate School having their event from 5-6:30 p.m. this evening.
Sweetwater Middle School and Sweetwater High School will have their event from 5-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Southeast and East RidgeÂ Elementary Schools will have their events from 5-6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) elected its board of directors that will serve through 2013-2104 during the IBAT 39thÂ Annual Convention held in San Antonio last week.Â
Jay M. Gober of First State Bank in Graham will serve the highest level of leadership as chairman. Other board members named to join Gober include Chairman-Elect John Jay of Roscoe State Bank in Roscoe, Vice Chairman Rogers Pope, Jr. of Texas Bank and Trust in Longview and Secretary-Treasurer Darla Rooke of Junction National Bank in Junction.
Texas State Technical College West Texas is accepting applications for the Spring 2014 Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program until Thursday.
The Associate Degree Nursing Program is an affordable, online, fast-paced curriculum. TSTC West Texas works hand-in-hand with healthcare industry leaders to train highly qualified nurses. There is a significant and growing need for registered nurses in the West Texas region and throughout the State of Texas.
An event called Meet and Greet Under the Oaks took place on Monday evening at Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Camp Boothe Oaks in which members of the community gathered to enjoy the Girl Scout camp. Tours were given around the property and entertainment was provided by the Sweetwater Municipal Band. Food was also provided for those in attendance.
The Big Country/Concho Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host the annual Fields of Faith on Wednesday. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at each of the sites. The sites include: Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood, Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater, San Angelo Stadium in San Angelo and Newton Field in Graham.
Adam McGonegal with the Sweetwater Fire Department recently graduated from the Training Division fire academy.Â
He worked online for about four months on his book work and attended a two week âboot campâ where students learned all of the hands-on skills they need to be firefighters.Â
The Sweetwater Fire Department also has a training system that they put firefighters through, once they pass the fire academy.Â McGonegal was âtop recruitâ in his battalion.Â

The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Mammography Department was recently inspected by the Texas Department of State Health Services.Â
During the inspection, the Mammography Department passed all aspects of the inspection and there were no health related violations of 25 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 289.
