Members of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the grand reopening celebration of the Sears Hometown Store in Sweetwater recently. The store now includes a new product assortment, redesigned merchandising, new fixtures and signage and comprehensive employee training, among other changes. Senior Nutrition Activities Program (SNAP) Director, Tonya Challis, is preparing for her department's final major fundraiser of the year.
In addition to the Taste of Sweetwater and charging for Rattlesnake Round-Up parking, SNAP holds an annual rummage sale at its 1701 Elm Street location, with this year's sale slated for June 6.

Nolan County 4-Hers served sweet tea and lemonade to show their appreciation to the people who supported the 4-H program Saturday morning at Tractor Supply Company in Sweetwater. â€śNolan County 4-H greatly appreciates the partnership with the Tractor Supply Company. "We are so thankful for the support of the Nolan County residents who have been and will be contributing to the Tractor Supply Clover Campaign which will run through May 3 at Tractor Supply,â€ť said Nolan County Family and Consumer Sciences County Extension Agent Labeth Carter.
The Nolan County Board of Realtors is offering to all interested Nolan County graduating seniors, of the Class of 2015, an opportunity to apply for the NCBR annual scholarship. For students who are planning to continue their educational experience beyond high school, the NCBR is offering four $500 college scholarships to help with expenses.

According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden, a man was working on the fuel tank of his vehicle in the Check Mart parking lot on Lamar Street Saturday afternoon when the fuel tank caught fire. The man sustained a second degree burn on his side and singed some of his hair in the blaze.

The Nolan County Commission awarded an additional $5,000 in funds to detain juvenile offenders within the county Monday during a regular meeting at the Nolan County Courthouse.

Fifty Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the fifth six weeks of the 2014-2015 school year and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50.
