With the clock on summer vacation ticking down to zero, the New Teachers Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at the Sweetwater campus of TSTC (Texas State Technical College) West Texas welcomed those who would embark on their local educational journey.
Three campuses were highlighted: SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District), RISD (Roscoe Independent School District) and TSTC West Texas.
On, April 9, 2011, students from Team Chip Tae Kwon Do in Sweetwater tested for promotion in rank. Two entered pleas to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 128 calls for service, issued eight citations and made seven arrests from Aug. 19-21, 2011.
The SPD received 99, 911 calls.

August 22nd
On Saturday evening, Aug. 20, 2011, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report that a Ford F-350 pickup had been stolen at gunpoint from Runnels County. The pickup was last seen traveling north on Texas Highway 153 near the community of Wingate in northern Runnels County.
In last week’s article it stated, “There is no central repository of vaccination records;” that is no longer true due to ImmTrac, the Texas immunization registry.
ImmTrac is a free service from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). It is a secure, confidential registry that stores children’s, Texas first responders’ and first responder family members’ vaccine information electronically in one centralized system.

August 21st
A suspect is dead following a shooting in Sweetwater Saturday night that stemmed from a police chase, according to DPS troopers.
Senior Trooper Sparky Dean says information remains sketchy at this point. However, it's his understanding a suspect stole a truck at gunpoint in Runnels County.
Troopers then chased the truck into Sweetwater where the driver reportedly wrecked into a car on Lamar Street and pulled into the Gill's Chicken parking lot.
August 20th
Two Sweetwater players bring down a San Angelo Lake View ball carrier during the teams' final scrimmage Friday night at Mustang Bowl. Sweetwater will begin the 2011 regular season this Friday by hosting Vernon.
Every 10 years, Texas requires that marks and brands be re-registered in the county or counties in which you operate.Â
The next re-registration period begins Aug. 31, 2011, and concludes Feb. 29, 2012. After the conclusion date, all marks and brands that have not been re-registered are automatically available for registration by another party.Â
The cost of registering brands in Nolan County is $16 per location. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit/debit card.
