Maj. Caroline Jensen, 36, is in her first season with the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, âThunderbirds,â and flies the No. 3 jet as the teamâs Right Wing. She will be the featured speaker at the WASP Homecoming luncheon at Texas State Technical College on Saturday.

Rain chances will decrease to 20% on Saturday, but expect highs this weekend between the mid-80s and low 90s. Lows will be in the mid-60s, and winds will be moderate with gusts up to 30 mph.
East Ride Elementary third graders and their families were evacuated to the downstairs portion of Sweetwater High School in the middle of the end of year third grade play that began at 6 p.m. this evening, due to severe weather conditions developing in the area. The students were released at about 7 p.m. when weather began to move west and all students were accounter for by their teachers. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Nolan County.
Texas State Technical College will host six summer camps the week of June 3-6, for students entering the fourth through seventh grades. Each camp will be a half-day session for four days.
Participants may choose morning, afternoon or all-day sessions. All camps will work closely with the STEM mind set of teaching science, technology, engineering and math.
Lunch is included in the full-day session. Everyone will receive a free t-shirt and goodie bags. TSTC Sweetwaterâs Student Center will be the location for drop-off and pick-up.

A reception was held at the Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) on Monday morning to honor reserve officer Willie James, who retired after 21 years of service with the SPD.
Although born in Oklahoma, James has lived in Sweetwater. He began his work in law enforcement in 1985 when he was sworn in as a reserve officer in Odessa. After serving in Ector County for four years, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Avondale Baptist Church invites all children age five years through grade five for their annual Club VBS. The kids will jaunt through adventure-filled Bible stories, create cool rainforest crafts, enjoy rainforest rations and ride the recreation rapids.
At the ninth annual WASP Homecoming on Saturday, the National WASP WWII Museum will host one of the most historically significant aircraft of World War II. Douglas C-47 Skytrain, U. S. Army Air Force Serial No. 42-32832, will grace the sky above Avenger Field and later be available for inspection outside the WASP Museum Hangar. Alongside the Skytrain will be a number of Stearman and Fairchild World War II primary trainers as well as the famous North American AT-6 âTexanâ advanced trainer.

1 lb. zucchini or squash (about 2 medium-sized)
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan (heaping)
1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs (heaping)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
freshly ground pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line two baking sheets with foil and spray lightly with vegetable spray.
Slice zucchini or squash into 1/4 inch-thick rounds. Toss rounds with oil, coating well.
In a wide bowl or plate, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, salt and pepper.
The Sweetwater Municipal Pool is opening this weekend. The City of Sweetwater has announced that the price for admission has risen to $2 per person to enter the pool.
"I have worked at the pool for 17 years and this is our first price increase," said pool manager Larry Hopple. "The city regrets having to increase the prices, but maintaining the pool is very expensive."
The pool will be open Saturday at 1 p.m. and will be open Sunday and Monday for Memorial Day. The pool will be closed the rest of the week and re-open the following Saturday and follow normal schedule.
