Five homes were featured on the Home and Outdoor Living Area Tour sponsored by the Women’s Forum and held as a benefit for the Pioneer Museum on Sunday afternoon.
The only home entirely up for view was the C.D. Boyd home at 1600 Morris. The uniquely decorated home featured black accents throughout, artwork Boyd has collected from his travels, and varying ceiling heights of 14, 12, 11 and 9 feet.

Enrique Lombrana Gamez, Sr. 61, of Sweetwater, was arrested on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The federal charge stated that Gamez and others, "aiding and abetting one another, knowingly possessed with intent to distribute 549.45 pounds (249.75 Kilograms) of marijuana, a Schedule I substance.”
First Financial Bank President/CEO Kirby Andrews kissed a pig on the lawn at FFB on Thursday afternoon. First Financial Bank officers — as a Relay For Life fundraiser —each had cans set up at the bank for donations to be taken. Customers, family and friends put money into the person’s can that they most wanted to see kiss a pig. Andrews raised the most money for the fundraiser, raising a total of $158.11. FFB raised a total of $385.55 for Relay For Life. The Nolan County Relay For Life event will begin tonight at 7 p.m.
A check was presented to Division for Blind Services in Abilene by the Ridin' For Cash Bull Bash foundation. Shown are Matt Miles with Case and Cash Miles, Annie Miles and Stetson Rasberry, making the presentation to representatives of DBS. According to event coordinator Annie Miles, over 1,500 people that came through the front door of the Nolan County Coliseum for the event this year raising a total of $11,026. Last year, The Ridin' For Cash Bull Bash raised $5,714 that was used to purchase Braille books for local school libraries.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 56 calls for service, issued two citations and made one arrest on June 1, 2011.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 197 calls for service, issued 18 citations and made eight arrests from May 27-30, 2011.

A flag raising ceremony was held at the Nolan County Courthouse on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011, to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. The Nolan County Honor Guard is shown during the ceremony. Several wreaths were laid next to the World War II memorial at the courthouse. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Sweetwater hosted a coffee and donut fellowship after the ceremony.
Meek Blood Center will bring two bloodmobiles to Sweetwater on Thursday, June 2. A bloodmobile will be parked at the Nolan County Courthouse and the other will be parked in front of the Lions Club building on Lamar Street. The bloodmobiles come to Sweetwater every eight weeks, which is how often whole blood can be donated. Donors who give blood every eight weeks help prevent blood shortages.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at Roscoe State Bank, located at 209 Cedar in Sweetwater. The bank is operated by Jean Jay and the on-site manager is John Davis. Roscoe State Bank offers a variety of financial services including checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts and consumer, commercial and mortgage loans. It was founded in 1906 and serves all of Nolan County. There are three branches, with 39 employees.

The following is an account from the perspective of the mother of the victim.
