Your Rattlesnake Round-Up forecast is shaping up to be warm and windy with chances of rain.
Today will be mostly cloudy with a high near 72 and breezy with southern winds at 15 to 25 mph. Gusts could be as high as 30 mph, and our chance of isolated showers stand at 20%.
The chances of showers and thunderstorms remain through tonight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 57. Breezy conditions remain with winds from the south-southeast at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has nine dogs available for adoption.
Available for adoption are two female boxer mix puppies, both black, three male boxer mix puppies, all brown, their mother, a female boxer mix, a male boxer mix and a male chihuahua/terrier mix.
According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The 4th Annual Ridin' for Cash Bull Bash saw another successful year, with $8,510 raised to benefit visually impaired children in the community and surrounding areas.
The total is an accumulation of the sales from tickets, t-shirts, the silent auction, the Mutton Bustin' competition and the dance held at the Jaycee Barn after the event. All funds raised will be donated to the Division for Blind Services to be used for programs and camps for visually impaired children.
Heath Cornutt, Sweetwater Jaycee President and Chairman of the 55th Annual Worldâ€™s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up, has released the schedule and prices for the upcoming Round-Up on March 8-10, 2013. The Jaycees have released that they will be paying $10 per pound for live Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes. The Jaycees have collected more than 300,000 pounds of Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes since the start of the Round-Up in 1959.
Loveâ€™s Travel Stops (Loveâ€™s) in Sweetwater off I-20, Exit 242, will open their doors for business Thursday, March 7.
Loveâ€™s is a 24/7 operation featuring an Arbyâ€™s restaurant, gourmet coffee selection, a variety of fountain drinks, fresh fruit, name-brand snacks, travel items, gift merchandise and more. This location will also have 85 parking spaces for professional truck drivers and a Loveâ€™s Truck Tire Care center on site.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 25 calls for service, issued three citations and made one arrest on Mar. 5, 2013.
The SPD received 30, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 14 calls for service, served 17 civil papers and made three arrests on Mar. 5, 2013.

The Sweetwater Jaycees Rattlesnake Round-Up is approaching fast, bringing many food vendors to town. Individuals and organizations cannot sell food to the public without a county health permit as required by State and County law. A new ordinance went into effective last November requiring all food vendors to renew permits yearly. This means food vendors at the Round-Up must fill out a new permit application prior to their inspection.
Nolan County United Way's 2013 Rattlesnake Round-Up gun raffle will benefit the nine local agencies assisted by NCUW including Big Country Medical Reserve Corp, Boy Scouts, Cancer Services Network, Gateway Family Services, Girl Scouts,Â Senior Nutrition Activities Program (SNAP), Sweetwater Back Pack Buddies, West Texas Children's Advocacy Center and the Women's Resource Center.
The gun raffle is sponsored by Wind Energy Turbine Services (WETS) of Sweetwater.
Raffle prizes include three Savage Axis XP's ~ Camo- Rifle/Scope Packages with one 22-250, one 243 and one 270.
