The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 58 calls for service, issued 14 citations and made two arrests on Nov. 15, 2012.
The SPD received 14, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had two calls for service, served 11 civil papers and made no arrests on Nov. 15, 2012.

The 39th annual Christmas Craft Show, hosted by the Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257, will be open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Applications are being accepted for booth rentals for the event. Rental price for a 10x10 space is $75, with one table and two chairs being provided. Electricity is available, but as the event is being held in an old building, participants will need to bring a heavy duty extension cord and duct tape. Concessions will be available and absolutely no pets are allowed at the event.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will once again host the annual Christmas parade this year.
The parade will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. Line up will begin at 4 p.m. in the Higginbotham parking lot. The parade will travel west to Pecan Street.
The theme for this year's parade will be "Peace on Earth." Those wishing to participate are asked to call 235-5488 or go by the Chamber offices at 810 E. Broadway to fill out an entry form. The deadline to enter is by noon on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. Remember, Santa cannot be on the float as it is the entry of the Chamber.
Several local Girl Scouts recently came by the newspaper office to meet the new publisher and present him with welcome gifts and a card. At the Nolan County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, November 13, one of the items on the agenda was to receive information on the issuance of bonds toward the proposals that appeared on the November 6, 2012 ballot, while also authorizing a specific plan of action.
The Roscoe Collegiate Plowbots represented the Big Country Hub in the Regional B.E.S.T. Robotics Competition in Dallas, Nov. 9 and Nov. 10. Three teams from the Big Country Hub, hosted by TSTC in Sweetwater, traveled to Dallas to compete at the next level. Sweetwater High School competed in the Robot Competition, with A.T.E.M.S. and Roscoe competing in the All-Around B.E.S.T. competition. The B.E.S.T. competition includes events in marketing, web design, exhibit, spirit and engineering notebook, in addition to the robot event.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, Brookshire Grocery Co. stores began the annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive in supermarkets located throughout Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, including Sweetwater.
Approximately 150 stores will collect donations of non-perishable food items and team up with a wide range of service organizations, food pantries, and volunteers to distribute food to families who need assistance before Christmas.
The Sweetwater Police Department recently had their 2012 Cook-Off with four categories including salsa, chili, wings and dessert.
Judges for the competition were Former Chief of Police Jim Kelley, current Chief of Police Brian Frieda, Sharon Gardner, Curt Crisp and Tatiana Rodriguez. Judges has to consider appearance, smell, taste and texture for each category and scored between 1-10 for each entry.
Winners of the contest were Cory Stroman for salsa, Todd Jones for chili, Jeremy Bohall for wings and Melinda Moncada for dessert.
