The newest board member of SEED (Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development) was introduced during the group's meeting on Monday morning, Oct. 10, 2011 at the Chamber of Commerce.
David Welch was appointed in September by the City Commission to begin his three-year term which starting on Oct. 1. Mr. Welch is occupying the seat vacated by previous SEED board member John Jay, who recently completed his time of service on the board.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 37 calls for service, issued seven citations and made two arrests on Oct. 10, 2011.
The SPD received 24, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had nine calls for service, served two civil papers and made three arrests on Oct. 10, 2011.

Following the much-needed rainfall received over the weekend, the burn ban in Nolan County was lifted at the Nolan County Commissioners' meeting on Monday morning, Oct. 10, 2011.
The burn ban will remain lifted until the next appointed meeting in two weeks, in which it will be considered once again at that time.
The 32nd Judicial District Attorney's office has announced a couple of changes, but both appear to be beneficial to the residents of Nolan, Fisher and Mitchell counties.
Chief Investigator Phillip Gill recently earned his Master Peace Officer certificate after working for more than 20 years in law enforcement and Barrett Thomas was hired as the new Assistant District Attorney (ADA) on Sept. 1, to serve under the District Attorney, Ann Reed. Ms. Reed thinks both of these events will greatly benefit the counties of her district.
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department (SNCHD) will be administering flu vaccine on Wednesdays during regular immunization clinic. A special flu clinic will be on Friday, Oct. 21, from 8-11:30 a.m.; the cost for the flu vaccine is $20. Medicare patients are reminded to bring their Medicare (Part B) cards, and any Medicare supplement insurance. Pneumonia shots are available for $60. Children are eligible to receive the flu vaccine through the Texas Vaccine for Children Program for $6. Regular immunization hours at the SNCHD are 8-11:30 a.m.
The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Pat McGowan, Nolan County Clerk, wants to remind Nolan County citizens the last day to register to vote in the Texas Constitutional Amendment Election is today.

A missing Colorado City 13-year-old has been added to the FBI Missing Person's list.
On the website fbi.gov, the Hailey Dunn case is listed as a kidnapping. The FBI says it's offering a $15,000 for information leading directly to the arrest of the individual responsible for this crime.
Hailey went missing from her mother's home in Colorado City on December 27, 2010.
Her mother, Billie Dunn, and mother's live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, were both named persons of interest in the case. Over the last few months, each has moved away from the area.
Shown is the 1910 authentic chuck wagon owned by the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.Â The chuck wagon will be in Sweetwater for the upcoming REHAB fundraising events on Tuesday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 26.Â On Oct. 25, the REHAB will have a Shrimp Peel Dinner and Auction at the Nolan County Annex at 6 p.m.Â The following day the chuck wagon will be at Sweetwater Auction for the annual Round-Up for Rehab sale. The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to a one-vehicle rollover on Saturday morning when the driver of an 18-wheeler lost control of the vehicle on the wet road, according to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden. The driver was headed west bound on Interstate 20 when the vehicle lost control and went through the center median before resting on the other side of the interstate. No transports were made and the trailer of the 18-wheeler was empty.
