Shannon Clinic is excited to announce that it will be expanding its services to the Sweetwater market next year. Shannon has reached an agreement with Rolling Plains Rural Health Clinic to join the Shannon Clinic organization. The agreement will be effective March 1, 2013. It will include the addition of seven providers to Shannon Clinic along with the existing Rolling Plains Clinic building which will be re-branded with the Shannon Clinic name.
The providers joining Shannon Clinic include:
â€¢ Frederick Kassis, M.D. â€“ Internal Medicine;
â€¢ George Lindsey, D.O. â€“ Family Practice;
The West Texas Childrenâ€™s Advocacy Center and Doug Sitter State Farm are taking donations of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.) for the families served by the WTCAC this year.
Donations will be taken at the Doug Sitter State Farm office, located at 208 Lamar Street through Thursday, Dec. 19, and then the center will be distributing them to the families for Christmas.
Donations can also be dropped off at the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center, located at 317 Oak Street.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 41 calls for service, issued no citations and made two arrests on Dec. 3, 2012.
The SPD received 37, 911 calls.

A Christmas Celebration with Santa Claus will be held at the Texas Theatre from December 14 through 16 in Sweetwater.
"Help fix the 'broken spirit of Christmas' by joining us in this narrated Vaudeville production which will captivate you as each world class performer participates in revitalizing the Christmas spirit," said event organizers.
Among the talents presented will be an NBA halftime performer of the tight wire, Rolla Bolla, juggling, a hula hoop star, comedy, aerial acts, and chair balancing.
The December Chamber Coffee event will be held at First Financial Bank on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m.
Everyone is invited to attend and come and go as they please. Refreshments will be served in the lobby of the bank.
The Republican Women of West Texas and State Representative Susan King co-hosted a coffee at the Pioneer Museum on Monday morning, December 3, 2012.
King was elected in 2006 and will be serving District 71 for the fourth time when the Legislature re-convenes on January 8, 2013.
"Give Where You Live" is this year's campaign for the Nolan County United Way (NCUW), a local group that runs solely on pledges. This year's goal is set at $85,000.
The NCUW strives to serve local organizations and is run by a board of volunteers within the community. With Wendy Smartt as the Executive Director of the NCUW, they strive to impact Sweetwater and Nolan County.
