One person was killed in a two vehicle crash in Eastland County.
At about 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 on Interstate 20 near mile marker 346 in the west bound lane, Jessica Marie Rogers, 20 years of age, of Henrietta, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro in Eastland County.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 60 calls for service, issued three citations and made no arrests on Aug. 8, 2012.
The SPD received 22, 911 calls.
Calls for service:

â€¢ Theft â€” 800 block of E. Texas.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served three civil papers and made five arrests on Aug. 8, 2012.

â€¢ Brooke Ann Hollis, 32, of Sweetwater â€” Possession of marijuana.
â€¢ Chad Eugene Parsons, 18, of Sweetwater â€” Warrant/theft of property.

Sweetwater will see hot temperatures throughout the entire weekend, as Friday's forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 98. Thankfully, winds will be from the north-northeast at 10 to 15 mph.
On Friday night, we'll see a low around 70 with mostly clear skies. The winds will be at 5 to 10 mph, changing from the northeast to the southeast after midnight.
Saturday, it'll be sunny, hot and temps will top out at the century mark with east-southeast winds coming in at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night will be mostly clear with a low around 75; winds will be from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
With an effort to revitalize the local art community and give local artists a place to display and work on projects, Mick and Carol Truitt of Sweetwater have remodeled the building that once housed local screen printing businesses at 109 Locust, behind the Texas Theatre. This new business is called Mustang 247.
This year's American Heart Walk/Run has been set for Saturday, October 20, 2012. During the Sweetwater Business Leadership Breakfast held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at The Center at the local TSTC (Texas State Technical College) campus, various community leaders gathered to learn more about the American Heart Association and the upcoming event, which will help raise funds to fight cardiovascular diseases. Sweetwater will feel the heat once again on Thursday, with the forecast calling for mostly sunny skies and a high near 100. Winds will shift from the west at 5 to 10 mph to east-northeast in the afternoon.
Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 72. The east to northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph will become light and variable in the evening.

Sweetwater resident, Irma Cantu, has been cooking and baking for the majority of her life. The oldest of five children, Irma was born in Lamesa, raised in Roby, and has resided in Sweetwater for the last 35 years. She is married to Adam Cantu and has two daughters, Jennifer and Monica Cantu, and three grandchildren.
Sweetwater Healthcare Center recently celebrated the graduation of seven of their staff members from Nurses' Aide to CNA (Certified Nurses' Aide) with a party in their honor on Tuesday afternoon, August 7, 2012.
Debi Cory, the Director of Nursing at the senior living facility, noted that this is the largest number of CNAs that have been on staff at the same time at Sweetwater Healthcare. As a CNA, total care of the patients is their responsibility â€” this includes assistance with feeding and cleaning while monitoring weight and hygiene, among other tasks.
So many of the stereotypes associated with bikers are of the negative kind. Bikers tend to be avoided and are assumed to be violent individuals, and even worse when in a group. The general population only see leather clad, bandana-wearing, tattooed men and women that are loud, heavy drinkers, use colorful profanity and participate in all forms of debauchery. But would you believe there are a group of bikers that don't fit the common stereotypes?
