The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 51 calls for service, issued no citations and two four arrests on Jan. 16, 2012.
The SPD received 28, 911 calls.
Calls for service:
â€˘ Burglary of a habitation â€” 400 block of Elm.
â€˘ Burglary of a vehicle â€” 1200 block of Ragland.
Arrested by SPD:
â€˘ Dalton Dauel, 21 â€” Family violence assault/impede breath.
â€˘ Terry Wayne Davison, 53 â€” Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 31 calls for service, served one civil paper and made eight arrests from Jan. 13-16, 2012.
A Sweetwater woman was shot in the leg by her husband on Monday evening, Jan. 16, 2012.
According to Sweetwater Chief of Police Jim Kelley, a call was received about shots fired on the 800 block of E. New Mexico Street in Sweetwater around 8:20 p.m. When police arrived, the victim was found down in the front lawn with a gunshot wound to her leg. Sweetwater emergency personnel made a landing zone and called a helicopter to transport the victim.
A small fire occurred on Sunday evening, Jan. 15, 2012 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab located at 705 NE Georgia in Sweetwater.
According to NNR administration, the small electric fire began in an overhead light in the room of a resident, thus triggering the alarm system.
Two employees immediately extinguished the blaze, while a total of four employees responded to the situation.
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge held its annual Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at the Sweetwater Intermediate School gym.
The 2012 Star Search Finals will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Sweetwater High School Auditorium.

Debi Cory D.O.N (Director of Nurses) is seen congratulating Brandie Howard, who has been recently promoted to the position of A.D.O.N. (Assistant Director of Nursing) at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Howard is a Sweetwater graduate both from Sweetwater High School and from Texas State Technical College. She has three children, and credits her father and grandfather as being her role models. She has been employed since 2007 with Sweetwater Healthcare Center as an LVN/charge nurse.
Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, the ongoing construction at the Nolan County Courthouse will prompt some traffic changes.
Locust Street, from Broadway to Third, will be closed off. However, the north and south parking lots of the Courthouse will be open, as well as both parking lots at First Financial Bank.
Texas State Technical College Sweetwater will host a special discovery day on Friday, Jan. 27 for Veterans and their families.
VA support personnel, Veterans Services Officers, employers and TSTC faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions. Tours of the Sweetwater campus will also be available. Food will be provided.
All active duty military,Â National Guard, reserve forces, military personnel that are separated, discharged or retired and military families are encouraged to attend.Â
The County-City Library is currently accepting donations of both adult and children hardback and paperback books, magazines and videos for the annual book sale which will be held Aug. 27 and 28 at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
Come to the garage door in the alley behind the library to unload the donations during business hours. Call 235-4978 a few minutes before arriving at the library to enable staff to be ready to help.
The hours of the library are Monday from 1-6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
