We want to wish all the mothers a very Happy Mother's Day.Â We will honor our mothers this Sunday morning and we will cancel the evening service so that families may spend the evening together.
Garlicky Beef Kabobs

Prep Time: 30 minutes, plus marinade time
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Yields: 6 servings
1/4 cup Dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons snipped fresh rosemary
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Dash cayenne pepper
2 pounds beef sirloin
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has two dogs available for adoption.
Available for adoption is a male beagle and a male pit bull. According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
Nolan County received an ample amount of rain on Thursday, May 10, 2012. The following are rainfall amounts for the county.
Oak Creek, 2.10 inches; Lake Trammell, 2.00 inches; Lake Sweetwater, 2.00 inches; Filter Plant, 2.20 inches; Booster B, 1.90 inches; Wastewater Plant, 2.40 inches; Well Field P.S., 1.90 inches; and CR 151, 1.60 inches.

The four-year-old class at Cornerstone Christian Preschool celebrated Mother's Day on Friday, May 11, 2012. The children and their mothers enjoyed building teapot picture frames, playing concentration games, reading Mother's Day books and eating lunch together.
On Friday, May 4, 2012, the Sweetwater sixth grade band followed in the footsteps of the middle school and high school band as they came home with superior ratings at the Clyde Invitational Band Festival.
"This is an exciting moment," explained director Ross Grant. "This is these student's first-ever contest performance. They perform on an unfamiliar stage before three adjudicators. It is a great opportunity for them to put their new skills to the test. The kids must focus in and do their best."
Crude oil prices declined over the last week and the prices at the pump continued a steady, month-long decline. This week the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas is down seven cents and sits at $3.61, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.Â
The national average is down for a fifth consecutive week and is now $3.74, which is six cents less than last week.Â
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 38 calls for service, issued three citations and made four arrests on May 9, 2012.
The SPD received 20, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had nine calls for service, served no civil papers and made no arrests on May 9, 2012.
The National Association of Letter Carriers will be having their annual food drive on Saturday, May 12. This Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
