Lamar Street Baptist Church will be holding a revival starting on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 through Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Evangelist Tom McCollister will speak at each service, and special guest Jerry Lewis will lead worship and provide special music.
The revival will begin on Sunday morning, Sept. 11 during the regular morning worship service, starting at 10:40 a.m. The evening services will be held each night, Sunday through Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 65 calls for service, issued three citations and made one arrest on Sept. 7, 2011.
The SPD received 31, 911 calls.

SHS Class of 1963
The Sweetwater Newman High School Class of 1963 will meet at 10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express for a brunch to plan for the upcoming 50 year reunion. All classmates and friends are invited to attend.

Sweetwater Police Chief Jim Kelly will travel to Bastrop on Friday to drop off donations from our area to the fire fighters battling wildfires. If you would like to drop off items such as gatorade, lip balm, baby wipes, sun screen, or money you can do so at the Sweetwater Police Department. Checks should be made out to the Salvation Army. Chief Kelly will leave Friday afternoon, and is asking donations to be dropped off before lunch on Friday.
Michael Briggs has donated a painting to the Pioneer City-County Museum titled A Matter of Right-A-Way. The painting is dedicated to the ranching and railroad community of Nolan County. Briggs' family were of the founding members of ranchers in Nolan County. Three generations have remained in the railroad industry: his father, himself and one of his sons, all of which were train conductors. Michael's son, Robert E. Lee Briggs, is still working as a conductor for the BNSF railroad at Sweetwater.
One week after hosting another successful Sammy Baugh Classic, the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce and Mustang Bowl will be home to a NCAA football game. Sul Ross State University from Alpine, Texas will play Bacone University from Muskogee, Oklahoma. "This is a great opportunity to see some college football on a wonderful fall Saturday evening," said Chamber representatives.
Both teams are staying and eating in Sweetwater and kick off is slated for 5 p.m. "Come out to the Mustang Bowl and watch the Lobos and Warriors go at it as the Chamber brings the game to Sweetwater."
The Roscoe Emporium has gotten a new name and a fresh coat of paint. The store, located at the corner of W. Broadway and Cypress, is now called Expressions. The interior has been repainted, refinished and rearranged to allow for more room and more merchandise. Expressions offers a wide variety of goods and services, from recycling furniture and refinishing antiques as needed, to a large collection of handmade jewelry, hard to find items and collectibles and original, local artwork. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas is $3.48, one penny more than the average last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.Â
The national average is $3.65, two cents more than last week.Â The statewide average price is 17 cents less than the national average.Â The most expensive gasoline average in the state is in Amarillo at $3.58.Â Houston is reporting the least expensive average in the state at $3.43 for a gallon of regular unleaded. The least expensive gas in Sweetwater is $3.58 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
