The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Errand Solutions, Inc. Today will be partly sunny with a high near 85. Winds will be from the east at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low around 65. Winds will be from the southeast around 10 mph, and we'll also have a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Saturday (during the daytime hours) will be our only chances for rain this weekend, but expect highs in the lower 90s with lows in the mid 70s. Winds will be from the south-southeast throughout the weekend.

Lone Star Ag Credit would like to congratulate the following Texas students: Maddi Cavender of Sherman, Rachel Pruitt of Rotan, Chandler Burke of Dallas and Hunter Morris of Annona. They are all winners of a college scholarship from Lone Star, ACA.
“It excites me to see great kids involved in agriculture! The scholarships are a way to say thank you to them for their leadership and for sharing how this industry has affected their lives,” LSAC Senior Marketing Manager Julie Porter said.
Texas State Technical College West Texas was awarded $65,000 for scholarships from The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for new and returning students. This grant has been awarded to fund scholarships for students in Texas — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (T-STEM) related programs.
Applications for a T-STEM scholarship are now available at westtexas.tstc.edu. Click on the button at the bottom of the homepage and follow the directions on the application. Application deadline is July 17, 2013.
Security Finance in Sweetwater, located at 1103 Lamar Street, will host a Customer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.
Door prizes will be given away every hour, leading up to a grand prize drawing for a canopy patio swing (shown above). Barbecue and refreshments will be served throughout the day.

Two local Catholic parishioners recently represented the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at the 2013 Advocacy Day of the Texas Catholic Conference.
Aida Pantoja and Andrea Mendez took part in the event, which was held in Austin at the Texas State Capitol. They joined up with 50 other parishioners from Midland, Odessa, Walls, Abilene, San Angelo and Colorado City.
The local group was a small portion of the 1,500-plus people from other Texas dioceses. Twelve Texas bishops also took part in the Advocacy Day.
