Members of the Nolan County Foundation are announcing their annual NCF Golf Classic scheduled for April 21, 2012 at the Sweetwater Country Club.
According to Jerry Riggs, President of the NCF, this event started in 2006 as a source of additional funding for spring graduates from Blackwell, Highland, Roscoe and Sweetwater high schools who desire to continue their education at any Texas college or university. Since its inception, the NCF has awarded $1,000 each to 133 graduating seniors.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 37 calls for service, issued no citations and made one arrest on March 14, 2012.
The SPD received 18, 911 calls.

of Sara Lee Pound Cake
1/2 cup Greek peach yogurt
1 cup light whipped topping, divided
1/4 cup sliced fresh peaches
1/4 cup whole raspberries
1 tablespoon toasted almonds
Thaw 2 pound cake slices according to package directions. Cut thawed pound cake into 1-inch cubes.
Mix yogurt with 1/2 cup light whipped topping, reserving remaining whipped topping for later.
Morgan Real Estate and Beall Abstract & Title Company on Oak Street in downtown Sweetwater have recently been receiving a facelift to their facades. The Nolan County Courthouse will also receive a new facade in the future and many ribbon cuttings by the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce are taking place this month.
The County-City Library continues to be a vital part of the community and the number of patrons continues to grow and every part of the library is used on a regular basis to serve the people of the community.
One of the finest big bands in the world today, the Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, D.C., tours thousands of miles each year to promote patriotism and good will for the U.S. Army through free public concerts. They will appear at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium on Monday night, April 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
A new church is opening in Sweetwater, and its leader is inviting everyone to learn more about it. This Sunday, March 18, 2012, the Followers of Jesus Christ will be meeting in their facilities at 922 Roscoe, on the corner of Roscoe and Poplar in Sweetwater (the former New Life Tabernacle).
Dearl Messick, the church's founder, is a resident of Loraine employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Along with being the pastor of the church, he has also written a book.

Another overseas scam has recently hit Sweetwater. According to Sweetwater Police Officer Danny Heine, a local business was the victim of a scam involving a counterfeit money order sent to the Philippines by a local resident.
