The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 39 calls for service, issued five citations and made four arrests on May 2, 2012.
The SPD received seven, 911 calls.
Calls for service:
â¢ Theft â 300 block of Alamo.
Arrested by SPD:
â¢ Chano Hernandez, 54 â Warrants.
â¢ Lisa Gonzales, 33 â Theft.
â¢ Gina Rios, 21 â Family violence assault.
â¢ Paul TreviÃ±o, 32 â Driving while license invalid.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served four civil papers and made one arrest on May 2, 2012.

Roscoe will host two Cinco de Mayo events this weekend.
Roscoe Collegiate High School will be hosting its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration and scholarship dinner on Friday, May 4, at the high school. There will be a bounce house, face painting, mini Mercado, paletas, music, loterÃa (Spanish bingo), cakewalk and other games for all ages. Students will be presenting throughout the dinner as well.
On Thursday, May 3, 2012, Highland One-Act Play will present sf âThe Crucibleâ by Arthur Miller, published by the Dramatists Play Service, to the public. The show will begin at 7 p.m. in the Highland Activity Center. Admission will be $3 for adults and $1 for students.
There will also be a drawing for a ladies Brighton watch that was graciously donated by Vickieâs Gifts in Roscoe.Â Chances are $2 each.Â
Calling all cancer survivors and caregivers! The Relay For Life of Nolan/Scurry Counties will host the annual Survivor and Caregiver Dinner at 6 p.m. this Friday, May 4, at the First United Methodist Church.
The dinner is free to all cancer survivors and their caregivers. For more information or to RSVP, call Linda Everhart at 236-6847.

Sweetwaterâs new Chief of Police, Brian Frieda, was officially sworn in to office on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in the city commission room at City Hall by Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham. Many members of the community and the new chiefâs family were in attendance at the ceremony.
Chief Frieda will replace Chief of Police Jim Kelley, who retired on Monday, April 30, 2012, after 34 years of service to the Sweetwater Police Department and 28 years as the chief.
City Manager Eddie Brown said that the city is happy to have Chief Frieda on board.

â¢ Ronald Bell, 42 â Public intoxication.
â¢ Gabriel Villa, 38 â Unlawful restraint.
One person was killed in a one vehicle crash occurring in Callahan County on Tuesday, May 1 at 9:04 p.m., four and a half miles east of Putnam, Texas, on FM 2945. Mark Wade Bowles, 54, of Cisco, Texas, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup westbound on FM 2945 in Callahan County. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, the driver overcorrected to the left and the vehicle overturned several times, ejecting the driver. The seat belt was buckled.

Millions will answer the call to prayer on Thursday, May 3, in observance of the 61st annual National Day of Prayer. Organized events will be held in thousands of public venues where intercession will be made for America and its leadership.
State Representative Susan L. King held a Public Town Hall Meeting on Monday morning, April 30, 2012 at the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce.
She represents Nolan and Taylor County residents in District 71 and is currently serving her third term in the Texas House of Representatives.
The meeting opened with a welcome from Rep. King on the past legislative session along with a forecast for the upcoming 83rd Legislative Session to begin on January 13.
