Sarah Worrell, Sam Spaulding, Ben Spaulding and Emma Worrell had a booth at this year'sÂ Rattlesnake Round-Up.Â They wereÂ asking forÂ donations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Â The children gave away toys, water and coupons from Wendy's, Sonic, Taco Bell, Wal-Mart and Whataburger in exchange for a donation.Â They collected $275.24 for St. Jude.
The rabid cat that was reported out at Lake Sweetwater was described as a light yellowish, cream-colored male tom cat and was found on Bahia Drive in Sweetwater.
As the cat appeared to show signs of rabies and was unvaccinated, a call was made for a Nolan County Sheriff's Deputy. Once the deputy arrived, the cat was shot, bagged and taken in for testing.

Some new technology has found its way to a local community bank.
First Financial Bank in Sweetwater has recently installed a new ATM machine at 1531 Hailey, replacing the old machine that was previously in place. FFB President Kirby Andrews described the new device as the "newest and wisest" ATM.
The current ATM boasts several new features, including various deposit capabilities. It can scan checks, count and dispense cash and print receipts.
Many area residents, as well as many from around the United States and other countries, enjoyed visiting Wrightâs Amusement Park during the 53rd Annual Sweetwater Jaycees Worldâs Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up. Those attending enjoyed food and rides all weekend.
Hendrick Cancer Center of Abilene will be at the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department, located at 301 E. 12th in Sweetwater from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Every year the Sweet-water Jaycees Worldâs Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Sweetwater area from all over the globe. This surge of tourism brings with it lots of revenue for the city.
Area hotels are almost always full during the second week in March and restaurants are packed around the clock.
Since 1958, the world's largest rattlesnake round-up has been held in Sweetwater.
