The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued one citation and made one arrest on June 21, 2011.
The SPD received 35, 911 calls.

â€˘ Cristino Alvo, 25 â€”Â Driving while license invalid.
A retraction has been issued by the Nolan County Sheriffâ€™s Office (NCSO) for the Wednesday, June 15, 2011 arrest of Jose Salamanca Solis, 34, of Roscoe for driving while intoxicated.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 10 calls for service, served no civil papers and made two arrests on June 21, 2011.

According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden, the White Hat fire in Nolan County is slowing down and getting more and more under control as local and state firefighters battle the blaze. A slight rain on Tuesday evening helped firefighters in places that could not be reached. Madden stated that the Texas Forest service estimates that the fire has burned about 65,000 acres. According to the Texas Forest Service, the fire is 30 percent contained. There have been voluntary evacuations around the Maryneal community.
The local fascination with rattlesnakes will be getting some national attention this Wednesday evening.
Sweetwater Jaycee Riley Sawyers, along with friends Allen Wells and Brandon Watson, will be appearing on the pilot episode of "Rattlesnake Republic" on Animal Planet. The show will be broadcast at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, June 22.
Student-built robots rolled down the fashion runway, after being programmed, assembled and dressed by two teams of girls from Sweetwater, Texas, who attended Preston STEM Institute, a unique summer program for middle school students at Preston Middle School in Fort Collins, Colorado.

According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden, the large fire burning in Nolan County that forced many to evacuate their homes on Monday night in Maryneal, has burned over 20,000 acres of land. "Very little of the fire is contained at this point," said Madden. The wind is currently in our favor and the fire is now burning back into itself after winds shifted last night."
Music students of Noreen Carson performed their annual Spring Awards Recital in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church on May 29, and were recognized during the following awards presentation for their accomplishments throughout the year.
Five people have entered guilty pleas to Judge Glen Harrison this past week during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings.
Michael Dewayne Amos pled guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. The incident occurred Sept. 2, 2009, when Amos allegedly stabbed Chris Rogers with a knife. Amos received four years of community supervision and will be responsible for paying a $1,500 fine, $309 in court costs and $1,000 in attorney's fees. He will also have to serve 240 hours of community service.
After pulling an all-nighter battling local wildfires, the Nolan County Commissioners met for a special meeting on Monday morning, June 20, 2011.
Only two actions items were presented at the brief meeting, but the main purpose of the gathering was to approve the extension of the disaster declaration and prohibition of outdoor burning in Nolan County for one more week.
Four Nolan County high school seniors have received scholarships in the amount of $1,200 each for the upcoming school year through the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) Nursing Scholarship Fund. The fund, established three years ago, has provided thousands of dollars to local students to help them achieve higher education in the field of healthcare.
Three scholarship recipients are from Sweetwater High School and include Cassandra Diaz, Christian Richardson and Genea Cherry. Roscoe High School senior Melanie Diaz also received an award.
