Abbie Maude Whittenburg Thomas was born in Falfurrias, Texas on Dec. 7, 1912. She moved with her family to Sweetwater, Texas. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1930.
November 9th
Dennis Earl Thompson, 55, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, in Sweetwater. He was born on January 18, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. He married Paula Garrett on March 23, 1992 in Sweetwater.
Dennis lived in Sweetwater for over 40 years. He was retired from Coca Cola after five years where he was a marketing coordinator. He had also worked at Rolling Plains Compress and Mahaffey Construction Company. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.
A graveside service for Dalton Lee Davis, 80, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Sweetwater Cemetery with family members officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Davis died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, in Baird.

The Rev. Robert Roland Sauer, 74, of Allen, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Roscoe Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Illausky officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
The memorial service, with a reception following, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 821 South Greenville Avenue in Allen, Texas.
Olney ~ Dawson Payne Boydstun, age 6, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at his home in Olney.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Olney with the Rev. Andy Graham of Southside Baptist Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles Fischer of Abilene, Texas. Interment followed at Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Dawson was born on Jan. 21, 2004, in Sweetwater to Misty Donn (Walters) Schneider and Trey Boydstun. He was a student at Olney Elementary School.

A graveside service for Inez Bartlett Wafer, 94, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Pastor Curtis Ward officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Wafer died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Sweetwater. She married Otis Wafer on July 4, 1936, in Big Spring. She was a member of First Christian Church and had lived in Sweetwater and Nolan County all her life. She was the office manager for Wafer Motor Sales for many years.
Alberta Ross, a resident of Sweetwater for over 80 years, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
She was born on July 10, 1922, to Jeannie Roberson and Clifford Williams in Overton, Texas. She moved with her mother to Sweetwater at the age of three and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington School. She married Wilford Ross in 1942 in Sweetwater, Texas. Born to the union was one son, Robert Leslie Ross.
Lorene Mulanax, age 85, of Sweetwater, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Lorene was born on May 3, 1925, in Ballinger, Texas. She worked for Holiday Inn Restaurant as a waitress and floor supervisor for many years before retiring. She married Harley Sheridan Mulanax on May 14, 1949, in Sweetwater.
O. B. Freeman was born in Sweetwater, Texas, to Otto and Clara Freeman on Aug. 15, 1924. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1943 and joined the United States Marines on June 17, 1943. He joined the Marines as a Private and was discharged in 1945 as a Corporal. O.B. participated in operations against enemy forces during World War II in the Marshall Islands: Saipan and Tinian in the B Company, 23rd Regiment, 4th Divison. He was awarded various honors including the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Funeral services for Mary Frances Davis, 83, of Sweetwater, will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Davis died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater.
