Trent — Dr. Johnie Dow Starkey, Professor Emeritus, Northern Illinois University went to join the Lord Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 2010. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Trent United Methodist Church, 226 N. Mesquite in Trent, TX, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.Â

Memorial service for Clarence David Scobey will be held on Nov. 18, 2010 at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church. First Baptist Church is located at 213 East. 3rd.
November 11th
William Don Witherspoon went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 10, 2010. He is preceeded in death by Dorris Virginia Witherspoon. He was 80 years old.
Survivors include his brother, Gene Witherspoon and wife Patricia of Bella Vista, AR, son Doak and wife Lydia of Frisco, TX, Dane of Cleburne, Tracy Schaeffer from Denver, CO., son Tracy and wife Angela from Lubbock, TX, daughter D’Ann Harris and husband Britt from Loveland, CO., seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and twin boys on the way.
Frances R. Smith, 85, of Sweetwater, passed away, on Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Stonecrest Assisted Living. She was born on April 5, 1925 in Rayville, Lousiana. She married J H Smith on March 25, 1948, in Houston, Texas.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Walker and husband David of Sweetwater; her sister, Alma Wooderson of Alvin; her grandaughter, Ashley Walker of Sweetwater and two grandsons, Brad Walker of Austin and Michael Smith of Houston.

Alfredo Bobby Pedro Diaz III, three months, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Rolling Plains Hospital in Sweetwater. He was born on August 15, 2010 in Sweetwater, to Rosalinda Guerrero and Alfredo Bobby Diaz II.
Survivors include his mother Rosalinda Guerrero and father Alfredo Bobby Diaz II, of Sweetwater; maternal grandparents Janie and Pedro P. Mermella; paternal grandparents, Alfred Diaz and Donna Medrano of Midland, Texas; paternal great-grandmother Belen Acosta of Sweetwater.
Paulo M. Lopez, age 79, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Paulo was born Feb. 13, 1931 in Rocksprings, Texas. He married Ysabel Gomez on March 4, 1948 in Sweetwater, Texas. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He worked for U.S. G. for forty years as a production operator before retiring.
HALTOM CITY — Jerry Dee Miller, 69, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home.
Abbie Maude Whittenburg Thomas was born in Falfurrias, Texas on Dec. 7, 1912. She moved with her family to Sweetwater, Texas. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1930.
November 9th
Dennis Earl Thompson, 55, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, in Sweetwater. He was born on January 18, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. He married Paula Garrett on March 23, 1992 in Sweetwater.
Dennis lived in Sweetwater for over 40 years. He was retired from Coca Cola after five years where he was a marketing coordinator. He had also worked at Rolling Plains Compress and Mahaffey Construction Company. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.
A graveside service for Dalton Lee Davis, 80, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Sweetwater Cemetery with family members officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Davis died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, in Baird.
