November 21st
Patricia Ann Ellis, age 78, of Midland, Texas (former resident of Sweetwater, Texas), passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Garden of Memories in Sweetwater, Texas with Pastor Billy Raies officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Billy Ray Hanks, 74, of Sweetwater, quietly went to be with his Savior at Nolan Nursing and Rehab, Sunday, 20 November 2011. A private Thanksgiving celebration of his life for his selfless contributions and devotion to his family will be held at his home.
Billy was born in Nolan, Texas, on Feb. 16, 1937, to Maynor Benjamin and Lila Louellen Hanks. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He was married to his lovely wife Barbara Jean, on Aug. 26, 1966, and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Sharryl Yvette Luckey Wass, 48, of Sweetwater, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at her home.
No services are planned at this time. She was cremated.
Wass was born Nov. 6, 1963, at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. She was a graduate of Merkel High School and had attended America Commercial College in Abilene. Sharryl came to Sweetwater from Lubbock 10 years ago. She was a dental hygenist.
Survivors include her son, James Wass of Sweetwater; parents, John and Linda Luckey of Sweetwater; and former husband, Bill Wass of Sweetwater.

A memorial service for Mary Elizabeth Gamble, 63, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov.22, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Donald Hunt officiating.
Gamble died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born Jan. 1, 1948, in Waynesboro, PA. She married Brett Gamble on June 6, 1989, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Mary moved to Sweetwater from Lubbock in 1991. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She was in retail sales and had been manager of the Skinny’s Store on Lamar Street from 1992 until 2009.
Ray Davison, age 78, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Stephens and Rev. James Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Viola Marie Stokes was born April 15, 1934, in Bledsoe, Texas to Clayton Hilliard and Fannie Lue Ruland Stokes. She spent her early childhood in and around Bledsoe, where she attended school and was a forward on the girl’s basketball team.

GORDONVILLE — A memorial service for Mary Alyne Burrow will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at the Dixie Frontier Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Carl Douglas officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Mrs. Burrow passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at her home in Gordonville.

Arthur J. Smith, 80, of Stephenville, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in Stephenville.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Stephenville Funeral Home.

Melton E. Kiddy, age 74. passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in Arlington, Texas. Mel was born June 23, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to the late Ernest and Willie Mae Kiddy. He married Linda Darden June 8, 1965.
Funeral services for Viola Marie Walker, 77, of Blackwell, TX will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at Blackwell Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Wesley officiating.
Interment will follow at Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Walker died Nov. 14, 2011, in Granbury, TX.
