September 30th
Patsy Ann Hogue Carter, of Blackwell, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011. Visitation will be all day Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church Blackwell with the Rev. Daniel Dotson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blackwell Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

Arel Boney Smith, 87, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at Rolling Plains Hospital in Sweetwater. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
September 28th
Funeral services for Betty Jean Nance, 75, of Yuma, Arizona (formerly of Roscoe, Texas) will be held in Yuma, Arizona.
Nance died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 in Yuma, Arizona. She was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Roscoe, Texas. She was married to Ed Nance, Sr. She retired as Cafeteria Manager at School District One and was a member of the Foothills Southern Baptist Church. She graduated from Roscoe, Texas High School in 1954 and took some courses at AWC. She loved tending her flowers, gardening and painting. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Frank Acosta, 53, of Sweetwater, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A rosary was recited Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories by Connie Palacios and Alice Velez.
Acosta died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at his home in Sweetwater.

Sandra Shuler, 70, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma (formerly of Sweetwater, Texas), passed into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at her home in Sand Springs.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. William Mayo officiating.

Anne Little, age 62, of Sweetwater, Texas, arrived in heaven on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.  Â
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 2 p.m., at First Christian Church with Rev. Eric Von Atzigen officiating. She will rest peacefully at Garden of Memories. Arrangements under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Bernard Joe Ferris passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, in Abilene, Texas. Bernie was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Denver Colorado, and grew up in Lakewood, Colorado. He received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines where he was awarded Shell Oil Company’s first graduate fellowship in petroleum geology.

Clayton Dee Hardin, age 47, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Hendrick Medical Center.Â
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Lester Cavitt officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Clayton Dee Hardin was born on Oct. 14, 1963, in Sweetwater, Texas to Arland Dee and Elizabeth Ann Hardin. He worked as a waiter at Lisa’s Cocina for many years.Â
September 21st
Robert Weldon Wood went to meet his Lord and Savior on Sept. 20, 2011, at the age of 91. Weldon was the son of Luther and Eva Gann Wood; however he was raised by an aunt and uncle, Ed and Virgie Berry due to the death of his mother when he was nine months old.
Robert E. Davidson, 88, of Mesquite, Texas passed away Sept. 15, 2011. He grew up in Sweetwater and Midland and was a paperboy for the Sweetwater Reporter. He is survived by his brother, Col. B.H. (Dave); sisters, Nell Taggart and Barbara Rammage; and numerous beloved family members and friends.
Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 2011, at Fairview Cemetery in Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home of Mesquite.
