October 6th
Louis M. Steen, age 84, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Fourth and Elm Church of Christ with Mike Crowley officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Jessie Joe “Queco” Costillo will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Charles Okonkwo will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said by Lupe Medellin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Costillo died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Sweetwater.
October 5th
Philanthropist, volunteer extraordinaire, educator, leader, mother and grandmother, Marilyn Joan MacKenzie Threlkeld died on Sept. 21, 2012, her 83rd birthday, from complications during surgery.
A memorial open house will be held at First Baptist Church, 213 East 3rd Street in Sweetwater on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, from 2-5 p.m. There will be no interment; in her usual selfless and loving manner, Marilyn donated her remains to the Genesis Medical Education and Research Institute.
Mr. Rodney Gaither Mayo of Hermleigh, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Mayo was born on  Nov. 11, 1945, in Roscoe and lived in Hermleigh most of his life with his mother and father Mary Neal and Gaither, his son Darrell, his wife Linda, his daughter-in-law Stacy, and his grandson Nathan.Â
A graveside service will be held in the Pyron Cemetery on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.Â
Funeral services for Roland Maldonado, 52, of Garland, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ward Hayes will officiate. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Maldonado died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, in Garland, Texas.
He was born Aug. 20, 1960, in Sweetwater.
SAN ANGELO – Chester Collier passed away in his home on Oct. 3, 2012. His last wish was that everyone be joyful and not let this time be filled with sorrow. He said, “I am never alone, God is always with me.”
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Loraine Cemetery. Services are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

Dorothy Faye Ford, age 56, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at First Baptist Church, with Reverend Philip Thomas officiating. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Randi Chrishel Kirk Fernandez, 30, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 in Abilene.
Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South in Abilene.
October 3rd
Funeral services for Michael Lynn Walker, 49, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. A 3:30 p.m. graveside service will be held at McKenzieville Cemetery near Silver, Texas. Rev. Wayne Kirk will officiate. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Walker died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at his home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Butler, 71, of Sweetwater, will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Rev. David Stevens will officiate. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Butler died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in Snyder.
He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Hamlin. He married Patsy Ann Speed on March 16, 1991, in Sweetwater. He worked for the city, loved music and playing the guitar.
