Sweetwater, TX â€” Glenn Franklin McCullough, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Lubbock Covenant Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories in Sweetwater under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held one hour before service time on Saturday.
Martha â€śJoâ€ť Chiofalo went to join the Lord on March 7, 2012, after passing away in Sweetwater, TX. She was born in Nolan County, TX, on Oct. 14, 1924, and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1941. She was married to Lawrence Chiofalo on March 11, 1967, in Connecticut. Mr. Chiofalo was a war hero, having survived the Pearl Harbor attack, helping numerous fellow servicemen to safety. Mr. Chiofalo previously predeceased Mrs. Chiofalo in death.
Violet (Janssen) Panzer died on March 6, 2012, in Arlington, Tx. Services will we held at 11 a.m. on March 10, 2012 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene, Texas, 4933 South 7th Street, with Rev. LaVerne Janssen officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 at McCoy Funeral Home, Sweetwater, Tx.
Funeral services for Virgie June Crawford, 72, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clowers officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Crawford died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Sally Bradford died, Monday, March 5, 2012. A private graveside will be held, Monday, March 19, with Father Dennis Bosley, officiating.
Sally was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Sweetwater, Texas. She moved with her parents to Lovington, New Mexico during high school. She graduated from Lovington High, and attended Eastern New Mexico University. She then worked for the Governor of New Mexico, in Santa Fe.
Sallyâ€™s business ventures included partnering in the Oldsmobile Cadillac dealership in Hobbs, New Mexico, Marc drilling, and Dos Hermanes Ostrich Ranch.
Graveside services for Ricky Rivera, 47, of Sweetwater, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Nolan Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Val Morin will be officiating.
Rivera died Monday, March 5, 2012, in Abilene.
He was born Dec. 1, 1964, in Sweetwater. He married Kelli Ensminger on June 25, 1989, in Sweetwater. Ricky worked for Mercer Well Services in the oil field and was a graduate of Sweetwater High School. He had moved back to Sweetwater two years ago from Arlington, Texas.
Martha Edna Scarborough, age 94, of Arlington, Texas (former resident of Sweetwater, Texas), passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Normandy Avenue Church of Christ with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow at Slaterâ€™s Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Patti Nelms Bedford, wife to David Bedford, mother to Beau, Rachel and Alexis Bedford and daughter of Dewey and Doris Nelms, went to meet her Savior on Saturday, March 3. Patti leaves a legacy of boldness, sincerity, compassion and most of all, love.
Merkel â€” Alton Glinn Best, 67, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, in a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at the McBee Cemetery in Taylor County with Reverend Johnny Warren officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6- p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Sweetwater, Texas â€” Adlie S. (Bud) Smith, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at his daughterâ€™s home in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday March 7, at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories. Rev. James Baker will officiate with McCoy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bud was born April 3, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, to Adlie and Alice Smith. He was raised in McCaulley, Texas with four siblings. He graduated McCaulley High School in 1942 and joined the US Army Air Corps.
