William Richard “Bill” Norred died Sept. 6, 2012, in Dallas. Norred was a longtime resident of Sweetwater, having moved to a retirement community in 2003.
Norred was born in Snyder, Texas on Oct. 15, 1929, the son of the late Albert and Faye Norred of Sweetwater. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and the University of Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, and in 1953 went into business with his father in the Buick-Cadillac dealership in Sweetwater. He sold Norred Motor Co. in 1975 and worked for the next 25 years for Ludlum Measurements.
