Sandra Jean Blakeney passed away at her home on Monday, Jan. 22, 2013.
She was born June 9, 1946 in Edna, Texas to Clifton R. and Wilma Smith. She married Joel W. Blakeney on Nov. 10, 1966, in Midland, Texas. They had three sons, James E. Blakeney, Joel W. Blakeney and Robert C. Blakeney.
She was a member of the Word of God Church in Sweetwater, and a good Christian who was a devoted worker at her church. She considered members of the church to be her family and close friends. She also helped many people that were in need.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Robert P. "Bobby" Gomez, 61, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited by Lupe Medellin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Gomez died Sunday, Jan. 20, at his home.
Jerry D. Heflin, 74, of Marble Falls, Texas, died Jan. 17, 2013. He was born April 29, 1938, in Girard, Texas to parents who were both of Native American ancestry. His father, W.T. Heflin was of Tonkawa ancestry and his mother, Lola Mae (Waldon) Heflin was Cherokee and Irish.
As a young man, Jerry served three years in the United States Army and received training in California and was later deployed to Korea where he served as a pilot for all types of water craft.
Bob Horn, 83, of Coahoma, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2012 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at the Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Texas.
