Michal Childress, age 68, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1996 and formerly of Woodland Park, Colorado, Central Texas and New Mexico passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Michal Edna Childress was born on February 1, 1946 in Portales, New Mexico to the late Alvin and Edna (Dawkins) Childress. She attended Newman High School in Sweetwater, Texas and attended Santa Monica Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Accounting.
Nancy McGinley passed peacefully in her sleep on July 17, 2014 in Austin, Texas. She was born Nancy Sue Neeper on Feb. 8, 1933. Nancy, one of nine children, grew up on her father's cotton farm north of Sweetwater in Fisher County. She graduated high school and married Jack McGinley in December of 1950. They had four children, traveled and loved each other until Jack's demise in 2004.
Funeral services for Bessie Stephens, 77, of Roby, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church Roby. Kerry Peacock will officiate and interment will follow at Roby Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Stephens died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 24, 1936 in Sylvester, Texas.
A memorial service will be given for Forrest James Sims at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (corner of 10th and Elm) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd.
Sims passed away Wednesday July 23, 2014, at the Abilene Regional Medical Center and was buried July 26, 2014 in the Sweetwater Cemetery.

Heaven welcomed Josephine Arnold on Sunday, July 20, 2014. She passed away at Odessa Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 8, 1923 in Hamilton, MO to Vera and Lloyd Roberts. She had spent most of her life in Odessa, moving here in 1952. She worked as a bookkeeper for Rhodes Welding & Co. She loved spending time with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, C. E. Arnold in December 1993.
Weldon Pat Oden, 71, of Blackwell, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 20, 2014 doing what he loved to do â€” fly his airplane. He did not survive when his plane went down over family property outside of Blackwell known to family and friends as â€˜The West Placeâ€™. The specific crash site was within 20 yards of the location his parents starting their first homestead together on this property during the Great Depression.
Woodrow (Woody) Wilson Cunningham, Jr., age 64, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center.
As per his wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt McGowen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Linda Kay Posey, age 65, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at her home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Reverend Kary Fry officiating. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services for Don Odell Williams, 64, of Sweetwater, will at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Martino Widjaja and Aubrey Todd officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Williams died Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home in Sweetwater.
He was born July 25, 1949 in Stamford, Texas.
Danny was born in Sweetwater on Aug. 6, 1961. He worked as a roughneck from 1980-1984, then continued on as a teamster at a South Texas Nuclear Project from 1984-1991. While providing for his growing family, Danny continued as a Process Operator at the Dow Chemical Company from 1991-2014. He respected his friends and co-workers. Their friendship was valued. Danny was a devoted family man and loving father to his children. Danny loved the simple farm life and all it has to offer. A lot of work but, big rewards. Danny enjoyed live country music and dancing. That is where he met his wife, Karen.
