Memorial services for William Louis "Will" Lenoir, 65, of Godley and formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Blackwell Fire Department facilities with Rev. Daniel Dotson, Larry Douglas and Randall Trull officiating.
Military Graveside Honors will be held at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Veterans Cemetery on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. with full Military Honors performed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. He was cremated.
He died on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Dallas Veterans Hospital.
Gloria Jesusita Gomez was born on Oct. 29, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Francisco Q. Gomez and Dolores Torres. She was the eldest of 11 siblings â€” four sisters and seven brothers. She attended Sweetwater High School. She enjoyed playing with and being with her siblings and cousins. Sheâ€™s always enjoyed family gatherings.
Graveside services for Quova Marvline Powell Benson, 84, of Tyler and formerly of the Newman community area in Fisher County, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Newman Cemetery in Fisher County. Family members will officiate. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
Benson died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Reunion Plaza Healthcare and Rehab in Tyler.
Betty Jo Gavit, 80, of Sweetwater, died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, as Mrs. Gavit was cremated.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1934, in San Angelo. She moved to Sweetwater in 1980 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Minnie (Rhoades) Akins; husband, Walter Gavit on July 17, 1991; sisters, Mary Guelker, Alva Taylor and Birtie Arnold; and her brother, Charles Edward Akins.
Bessie Navarrette, 91 years old, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 from complications resulting from Ramsay Hunts Syndrome.
Bessie was preceded in death by three sons, Ysidro, Simon and David Navarrette; and her husband Francisco Navarrette. Also preceding her in death were her mother, Justa Romo Rodriquez; father, Victoriano Rodriquez; two brothers, Marcos and Monico Rodriquez; a granddaughter, Cynthia Archuleta; two nephews, Julio and Savas Rodriquez; two brothers-in-law Ruben and Ysidro Navarrette; and one sister-in-law, Alvina Alvirez.
Graveside services for Frances â€śFranâ€ť Alston, 102, of Westminister (Denver), Colo., will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Brian Brownlow officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Alston died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at her daughterâ€™s residence in Westminister (Denver), Colo.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1911 in Trent. She married M.C. "Red" Alston on June 14, 1931 in Merkel.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sweetwater. She was born in Trent and raised in Merkel.
Funeral services for Dixie Laverne Boyd, 75, of Sweetwater, will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Ollie Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow at Newman Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Boyd died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at her residence.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1938, in Pampa. She married Calvin Doyle Boyd on Oct. 8, 1955 in Las Cruces, NM.
Vernon F. â€śMartyâ€ť Martin, businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist dies at 87.
Sweetwater-Nolan County native and Dallas businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, V. F. â€śMartyâ€ť Martin passed on to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 2014 at his home in Dallas, Texas surrounded by family and friends.
Vernon F. â€śMartyâ€ť Martin was bornÂ June 10, 1927Â in Taylor County, Texas to Mary Alice (Nalley) and Floyd Martin. They moved to their new home in Nolan County â€“ a stock-farm near Sweetwater â€“ in 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents and his much-loved niece, E. Dawn McRae.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Segovia, 79, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parish Church with Father Michael Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
A Rosary was recited by Domingo Castillo at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
She died on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
Mr. Raymond Neil Beeks, 69 of Hermleigh, TX died on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 after a sudden illness.
Service for Mr. Neil Beeks will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Hermleigh First United Methodist Church with Reverend Elizabeth Billingsley and Reverend Daniel Ramey officiating. Internment will follow at Hermleigh Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
