William Christopher (Chris) Birkla

William Christopher (Chris) Birkla, age 52, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a brief illness.
His body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Myrline Scott, 89, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clifton and Rev. James Baker. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
She died on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2104 at her residence.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1925 in Sweetwater. She married A.J. Scott on May 10, 1947 in Sweetwater.

Charles Arthur Spaulding, Sr.

Charles Arthur Spaulding, formerly of Sweetwater, passed away on Aug. 21, 2014 at his home in Bandera, Texas at 83 years of age.
He was born May 30, 1931 in Sweetwater to Charley Bowles and Clara Marie Spaulding.
Charles served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant, being Honorably discharged on Dec. 7, 1954. While serving at an airbase in California, he met and married Marilyn Meyer of Oakland, Calif. Charles and Marilyn were married for 22 years and had four children; three boys and one girl.

September 9, 2014

Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Ysidro A. Navarrette, 79, of Sweetwater, will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church), with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited by Domingo Castillo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Navarrette died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at his home.

Malcolm (Mike) Milligan passed away Aug. 20, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Graveside services were held Aug. 20, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lela; one daughter, Karen; and three sons, Mike, Rodger and Jackie.

Helen Farris Ballard, age 92, died peacefully on Aug. 27, 2014 at Kindred Rehabilitation in Grapevine, Texas after a short illness. Helen was born July 23, 1922 in Colorado City, the daughter of Charles Richard Farris and Wenona Daugherty Farris.

Mr. Jesse Barrera, age 79, of Sweetwater, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, in an Abilene hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Barrera was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Bastrop to Francisca and Francisco Barrera. He was a Sweetwater resident for most of his life. He married Rosa Carrasco on Sept. 11, 1954 in Colorado City. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2003.

Robert “Bob” Hinshaw

Robert “Bob” Hinshaw, 82, joined our Lord in Heaven on Monday Sept. 1, 2014.
A funeral service will be held Thursday Sept. 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marceal Viola Reeves, 90, of Hewitt, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.
A visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 with the funeral service to begin at 10 a.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Bishop Don Connell will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
