Harold Wayne Smith, 55, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring.Â Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
He was born Aug. 31, 1956, in Sweetwater, Texas to Edna Ruth Mayhugh and Reuben E. Smith.Â He was a graduate of Sweetwater High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1975 until 1979.Â He was a self-employed construction worker.Â He had been a lifetime resident of Sweetwater and was a Lutheran.
Robert Francis âBobâ Fee, Jr. died Sept. 12. A retired cattle rancher, he had lived in Lubbock for the last 12 years. His ranching operations were in Mitchell (Rock Hole Ranch) and Nolan Counties, and he loved the ranching culture of which he was a part. His recollections and stories about West Texas ranching would have made an interesting history about this fraternity to which he so passionately belonged. He was often among the first to adopt new ranching procedures.
Douglas Ray Lawrence, 60, of San Angelo, passed away unexpectedly while celebrating his 60th birthday with his family. Doug (aka Poppy, and Coach Lawrence) was born on Sept. 15, 1951 in Snyder, TX.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Johnsonâs Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Douglas Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Lawrence.
Anne Little, age 62, of Sweetwater, Texas, arrived in heaven on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.Â Â Â
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 2 p.m., at First Christian Church with Rev. Eric Von Atzigen officiating.Â She will rest peacefully at Garden of Memories.Â Arrangements under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Lizabeth Anne Little was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Junction, Texas.Â She married Darold Little on July 18, 1972 in San Angelo, Texas.Â She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church.Â
Dorotha Mae Ford Smith, 89, passed from this life on Sept. 17, 2011, to join her savior Jesus Christ and a host of angels. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Roscoe Church of Christ with Dan Boren, Royce Clay and Hershel McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe. A family visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe.
David Keith Geron, age 58, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.Â
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home ChapelÂ with Rev. Wayne Brown officiating.Â Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.Â Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.
Daniel G. Martinez, Sr., age 74, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center.Â
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Deleon officiating.Â Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Daniel was born on May 21, 1937 in Eskota, Texas to Pascual and Felipa (Gomez) Martinez.Â He worked as a cement pipe manufacturer for Gifford-Hill-American before retiring.Â
Graveside services for William D. "Bill" Swartz, 71, of Sweetwater, will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, Texas with Military Graveside Rites performed by the U.S. Army Military Honor Guard from Fort Hood, Texas with Chaplin Eddie Rivera officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Swartz died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
ROTAN â Charles Thornton, 70, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Rolling Plains Hospital in Sweetwater.Â Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Rotan.Â Burial will follow at Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.Â Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Sherion Mae Carter, 55, of Trent, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Pastor Eric von Atzigen officiating.
Carter died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, in Abilene.
She was born Dec. 21, 1955, in Dallas County. She married James Michael Carter on May 10, 1980, in Dallas County. Sherion moved to Sweetwater in 1999 and was a homemaker. She graduated from Mesquite High School and was a Baptist.
