Trent â€” Wanda Ruth Stubblefield Hodo, 82, died Friday, July 22, 2011 in Abilene, TX. Wanda was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother â€śGrannieâ€ť. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 25, at the McCaulley Methodist Church with Reverend J.W. Raney officiating. Burial will be in the Newman Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Hazel Joy Brown, age 89, of Brownwood, Texas (formerly of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Songbird Lodge Nursing Home in Brownwood.Â
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Clifton officiating.Â Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â Â Â
Mary J. Knox, age 65, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.Â
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Enoch Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Ray T. Reyes, 58, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Michael Rodriguez officiating.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories, recited by Deacon Bill Butler.
Reyes died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at his home.
Clifford Wilson, born Nov. 10, 1933, passed away in his home on June 21, 2011, a the age of 77. He will be missed by his many friends and certainly by his family. Known as â€śdad,â€ť grandad, â€ścoachâ€ť and Cliff, he lived a rich and full life. Born in San Saba the youngest of seven children he earned his high school diploma then went to Angelo College to play football. He met and married Suzie Jameson in 1953.
Jacob Gordon Baker-Vanpelt, infant son of John Chase Vanpelt and Collene Anne Baker, passed away on July 14, 2011 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Longworth Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
TRENT â€” Vivian Iona Simpson, 89, of Trent, passed away on July 13, 2011, in Merkel, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Trent with Rev. Ronnie Freeman and Rev. Rex Mauldin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
There will be a family visitation on Friday, July 15, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater, Texas.
Arnulfo (Shooky) Gutierrez, age 56, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.Â
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Pauline Gauna and Connie Palacios.Â

Lucille Morton Griffin
Bill and Lucille met in the 1940s when Lucille was employed in Ft. Worth as an airplane riveter and Bill was in the process of being deployed to England with the US Air Force, where he served as a gunner on a B-17. They were married Nov. 20, 1945 and their marriage continued for 65 years until their deaths this week, 26 hours apart.
ABILENE â€“ Hank Allen Smith, 2 day old infant son of Nathan and Marsha Smith, went to be with Jesus on July 5, 2011. Hankâ€™s service was held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday July 6, 2011 at the Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ with interment at McBee Cemetery in Ovalo, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Hank was born on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Abilene Regional Hospital. At the end Hank was able to bring together a loving family, a loving church family and many of his parentâ€™s friends. Hankâ€™s service was a testament of the good will of so many.
