Graveside services for Ralph W. Porter, Jr., 81, of Nolan, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Slater's Chapel. Rev. Vic Meyer will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Porter died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
He was born June 11, 1931 in Dora, Texas. He married Wanda Curtis on Jan. 27, 1957 in Lovington, NM. Ralph was a member of Nolan Baptist Church.
Elizabeth Dawn (Burnett) McRae, 62, Nolan County native and former Sweetwater High School teacher, was called to her Heavenly Rest Friday, September 14, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Sherman, Texas, while comforted by her daughter, mother, two sisters, and numerous devoted and helpful friends.
Celebration of Life Memorial is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19, at 2 pm, Christ Church Plano in the Chapel 4550 Legacy Dr., Plano TX 75024 â Phone 972-618-0222.
Bedford â Melba Hand Roggenbuck, 90, formerly of Sweetwater, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in a Bedford hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Pastor Rhonda Greenwood officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mattie E. "Sue" Henley, age 69, of Sweetwater, went to be with Jesus on Sept. 12, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Wayne Kirk officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Funeral services for At All Kite of Sweetwater will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at The Church of the Good Shepard in Brownwood, Texas, with Father Bradley officiating.Â Interment will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery.
At All Kite went home to the Lord at the age of 52 after a lengthy illness with loved ones at his side.
He was a conductor for the Santa Fe Railway (now BNSF Railway) for 33 years working from Brownwood, Sweetwater and Temple Texas.Â He considered most of the people he worked with his âextended family.â
William Richard âBillâ Norred died Sept. 6, 2012, in Dallas. Norred was a longtime resident of Sweetwater, having moved to a retirement community in 2003.
Norred was born in Snyder, Texas on Oct. 15, 1929, the son of the late Albert and Faye Norred of Sweetwater. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and the University of Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, and in 1953 went into business with his father in the Buick-Cadillac dealership in Sweetwater. He sold Norred Motor Co. in 1975 and worked for the next 25 years for Ludlum Measurements.
Betty Ruth Bruner, born July 18, 1927 in Roby, Texas to JT and Eula Feagan of Roby, died Sept. 1, 2012, at age 85.Â
Funeral services for Thelma Lee Johns, 78, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 8, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Thelma died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Wayne Walton, age 84, of Hurst, Texas (Former resident of Sweetwater, Texas), passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Bishop Davies Nursing Center in Hurst, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Mike Sells and Chad Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Hazel May Dunlap, 93, of Colorado City â formerly of Roscoe â will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Roscoe Cemetery. Rev. Claudine Chaney will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Dunlap died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Colorado City.
She was born May 25, 1919, in DeQueen, Arkansas. She married J.C. Hobbs on Feb. 2, 1951, in Clovis, New Mexico. Hazel was a homemaker and she was a Baptist.
