Suzan Diane Hewitt, 70, of Sweetwater passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center in Sweetwater. No local services are planned. A memorial service will be held in Oregon at a later date. Hewitt was born Jan. 6, 1944 in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Sweetwater in 1965, moved away in 1980, then returned in 2011. She was a graduate of Texas State Technical Institute in Sweetwater and was employed there as an Administrative Assistant. She was a United States Navy veteran.
Ashley Nicole Stevenson, 20, of Lubbock, passed away unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
Don Borton, 67 of Abilene, passed away peacefully at Hendrick Medical Center on May 26, 2014. A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 in the Piersall Chapel, 733 Butternut Street with burial to follow at 3 p.m. in Electra, Texas. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Graveside services for Irene Young, 96, of Sylvester, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Sylvester Cemetery. Rev. Mark Lasater will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Young died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Bronte, TX. She married Albert A. Young on July 11, 1936 in Sweetwater.
Irene was a member of Sylvester First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and lived in Sylvester since 1979, coming from Breckenridge.
BRONTE â€”Â Charles Bryan McCarley passed away on May 24, 2014 in a way only Charlie would have it. He just slipped away and as he passed the heavens opened up with a rain West Texans needed so badly he drifted off saying â€śLetâ€™er Rain.â€ť
Charlie was born Jan. 3, 1941 to Rhoda and Reese McCarley in San Angelo.
John Luna "Hoppy" Areniboz, age 66, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parrish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church) with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial followed at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Winona, Mississippi â€” John Edmund McCabe, age 50, former Hays, Kansas, resident died Friday, May 16, 2014, at his home, on the family farm in Winona, Mississippi.
A memorial service took place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, 12th and Fort, Hays, Kansas. A private family inurement will be at a later date.
The family received friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, at Clineâ€™s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, at the First Baptist Church, Hays, Kansas.

Funeral services for Mary Virginia (Jones) Massey, 85, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Reverend Terry White will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Massey died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her home in Sweetwater.
She was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Tipton, Okla. She married A.J. Massey on Sept. 21, 1946, in Brownwood.
Jimmy Ray Thomas, age 79, of Big Spring, (former resident of Sweetwater) passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. Matt McGowen officating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Jeffrey Dean Sparti passed away on his favorite mountain in Hot Springs, NC after a massive heart attack on May 7, 2014 at the age of 54.
Jeff was born May 30, 1959, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a former resident of Florida and beloved husband of Terri Lynn (Butler) Sparti for 26 years. Jeff was a professional painter and loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, motorcycles and nature in general. His remains were cremated on May 12, 2014 and sent to Dallas, to his loving mother and father, Joseph F. and Collista J. Sparti. A memorial will be held at a later date.
