SWEETWATER — James (Stubby) Smith, Jr., passed away April 13, 2012. He was born Oct. 20, 1941, to James Eldon Smith and Elsie Vida Gober in Brownwood, TX. The light of his life was his daughter, Amanda Leigh Knight, who preceded him in death in 2008, along with his parents; and brother, Jerry Don Smith.

Sedan — Margaret Irene Conner, 64, of Sedan, Kansas formerly of Sweetwater, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at her home in Sedan.
She was born March 11, 1948, in Shidler, Okla. to Henry Coleman Smith and Billie Jean (Burke) Smith. She grew up in the Shidler area before moving to Sweetwater, Texas where she graduated from high school in 1966. After high school she married Gene Shaffer and they later divorced in 1980.

Linda Yvonne Tidwell, 63, of Abilene and formerly of Roscoe, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Mrs. Tidwell was cremated and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Fred M. Springer: June 30, 1928 - April 18, 2012

Fred M. Springer was born June 30, 1928 in Washington, D.C. to George E. and Marguerite Springer. They were of Iowa ancestry who migrated west after the Revolutionary War. Fred is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution as his Dutch ancestors fought in the New York Militia. He was raised in Houston, Texas so viewed that as his home having graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in 1945.

James F. (Buster) Dunn was born on Jan. 4, 1929, in Crowley, Texas. He passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, at the age of 83.

Ross Blanchard, 89, of Snyder, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Hoyt House Assisted Living in Sweetwater.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on April 21, 2012, at First Christian Church in Snyder with the Rev. Wendell Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Warren L. Martindale, 91, of Fisher County, Texas, was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at First Christian Church with Rev. Curtis Ward officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Ben Richey's Boys Ranch of West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
Martindale died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in Sweetwater, Texas.

Louis Harry Flewharty

Louis Harry Flewharty was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Weatherford, Texas and passed away April 14, 2012. He married Gerry A. Rogers on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1957. Louis graduated from Texas A & M at Commerce in January of 1953 with B.A. degree in Business Administration. He spent two years in the United States Air Force. He was inducted into the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas and then spent three months in Cheyenne, Wyoming in Officer’s Supply School. He was sent to Adak Island in Fairbanks, AK at Ladd Air Force Base. He worked for J.C. Penney Company from 1955 until 1987.

David (Jenero) Prado passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Funeral service was on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the St. Michaels the Archcangle Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, TX.
David worked for Gifford Hill which then turned to Hanson Pip. He lived in Grand Prairie, TX. David and Josephine were married for 46 years.

Jo Nell Caughey Burgan

On Sunday, April 15, 2012, the angels took her to heaven. She was 80 years old. Jo Nell, of Sweetwater, was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Luther, TX to Mildred Lawrence and Lester Caughey. At the age of 15, she and her family moved to the Stephenville area where she graduated from Stephenville High School and met her life partner, Carl Max Burgan. Jo Nell and Carl Max married on Aug. 17, 1950, in Ft. Worth where they lived until moving to Sweetwater in 1953.
